In 1989, a new actor made his debut as a hero and that movie had a song of fond hope- papa kehte hain bada naam karega. That movie became a hit and the debutant actor, Aamir Khan really made his father proud. With passage of time, Aamir Khan has grown from strength to strength and he has in fact made his papa proud beyond his wildesh imagination.
That proud father was Tahir Hussain (19 September 1938 – 2 February 2010) whose 80th birth anniversary falls today. Tahir Hussain was a leading movie maker of his time and he was the younger brother of legendary Nasir Hussain.

Today (2 february 2015) is the fifth death anniversary of Tahir Hussain (1938-2 february 2010). Here is a song from “Madhosh”(1974) as a tribute to him. This movie was produced by Tahir Hussain while written and directed by Desh Gautam. The movie had Mahender Sandhu, Rakesh Roshan, Reena Roy, Helen, Master Amir Khan, Ravindra Kapoor, Jayashree.T., Tahir Hussain, Veena, Shyama, Introducing Raja Duggal, Ashoo, Sabina, Shaifali, Kapila, Kamal, Rubai, Nasrin, Yasmin, Salma Aman, Beena, Janki Das, Yunus Parvez, Nawab, Lala Nazir, H.Prakash, Ajit Soni, Nadir, Nausha Khan, Suresh Rokde, Johnny Walker (in friendly appearance) etc in it.

“Madhosh” (1951) was a Wadia Films production. It was directed by J B H Wadia. the movie had Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari, Usha Kiran, Jilloo Maa, M. K. Hassan, Mubarak, S. Nazir, Goldstein etc in it.

“Madhosh” (1974) was produced by Tahir Hussain and directed by Desh Gautam. The movie had Reena Roy, Rakesh Roshan, Mahendra Sandhu, Johny Walker, Helen, Jayshree T, Ravindra Kapoor etc in it. Present day star Aamir Khan is also present in the movie as a child artist.

“Madhosh”(1951) is a movie that had Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran in lead roles. Talat Mehmood sung for Manhar Desai, whereas Lata sang for both the leading ladies. Thankfully the two leading ladies did not sing a duet together, else we do not know what the music directors would have done. 🙂

“Madhosh” (1951) has one hero (Manhar Desai) and two heroines (Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran). In this movie, Manhar Desai got to lip sync in the voice of Talat Mehmood. The two leading ladies, who was seen to romance the same hero, were also made to lip sync in the same voice, viz that of Lata.

When Madan Mohan began his career as a music director with “Aankhen” (1950), he used several singers and lyricists in that movie. Interestingly, Lata was not among those several singers. He began using Lata from his subsequent movies. And he also made use of less number of singers and lyricists in these movies.
