Mukesh and his Actors – 06
Navin Nischol was amongst the new breed of actors to grace the silver screen from the early 70’s. He made his debut with the film Sawan Bhadon (1970) in which he was paired with none other than Rekha who was also making her debut in Hindi films.
His popular films and even more popular songs are well known. Without going into the details of his films and his successful foray into television media, I direct readers to his wiki page where ample details are provided.
In this post, we shall deal with Mukesh’s playback for Navin Nischol. There are only 3 films in which Mukesh sang a total of 5 songs for him. Here is the table of their collaboration.

Recently I wrote up a 1970s song here and today I’m presenting another 1970s song.
I know that by the standards of this blog, the 1970s is a fairly recent decade. Most of the songs here are from an earlier period – and I love this because it gives me an opportunity to listen to, and learn about, so many forgotten gems of an earlier era. I will never forget the thrill I got when I heard “halla gulla lai la (Dholak – 1951)” for the first time – it has since become one of my FAVOURITE songs! Actually I’d always been interested in old songs but thanks to the internet and this blog, my interest has not only been encouraged, it has also been sharpened in the last few years.
