Blog 10-Year Challenge (2013-2023) – Song No. 21

On this date ten years back viz on 6 February 2013, seven songs from sevendifferent movies were covered in the blog. Here are the details:-

We observe that four movies (out of seven) whose songs were covered in the blog on this date ten years ago (on 6 February 2013) have since been YIPPEED. We also observe that as many as five songs had the voice of Lata Mangeshkar in them. Coincidence ? Or divine scheme of things ? Today ten years later, we have already discussed four Lata Mangeshkar songs (out of seven songs). We have yet to take up Blog Ten Year Challenge and they too offer us opportunities to covered Lata Mangeshkar songs.

“Rangeeli”(1952) was produced by Gulistan and directed by Najam Naqvi. This “social” movie had Rehana, Raj Kumar (Johny fame, making his debut), Yakoob, Mumtaz ali, Balam, S Nazeer, Eruch Tarapore, Lela Mishra, Cgandabai, Surendra Junior, Baby Sheila, Aggan, Kathana, Bazid Khan, Omkar Devaskar etc in it.

The 7th song in the series ” Vintage Kishore ” is from film Rangilee-52.
It is an unique song and was a novelty in those days because then such things were not even imagined. This is the First song of Kishore in which he sang in two voices-male and Female. I said ‘First’ because Kishore did this feat once more in the film ” Half Ticket”-1962 wherein he sang Aake seedhi lagi in male and female voices. This ‘Half ticket’ song was posted on this Blog on 8-2-2009. Under the comments of this song I found a comment from Lalitha ji wherein she did mention about an earlier similar song by Kishore. Unfortunately she could not state the film name or the mukhda of the song. Except for this mention,I have not come across anyone who knew about Kishore’s earlier similar song.

Koi dard hamaara kyaa samjhe

“Rangeeli” (1952) was an M & T Production movie. It was directed by Najam Naqvi. This obscure movie had Raj Kumar, S. Nazir, Leela Misra, Yakub, Rehana etc in it. I presume that the Raj Kumar of this movie is one of the lesser known Raj Kumars.
Ps-Mr Harish Raghuwanshi, the compiler of Mukesh Geetkosh and a regular of this blog informs me that this movie in fact was the debut movie of the famous Raj Kumar. So this Raj Kumar is in fact the well known “Jaani” Raj Kumar.
