“Gawaiyya”(1954) is a forgotten movie and not much is known about it. This movie was directed by Seth Rambachan and workers. The movie had Surendra, Sulochana Chatterji, Vijayalaxmi, Sundar, Sapru, Heera Sawant, Kumkum etc in it. “Taj”(1956) was a Dossi Films production. It was produced by Fali Mistry and directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. the movie had Vyjayantimala, Pradeep Kumar, Bipin Gupta, Jeevan, Shakuntala, Kammo, Amar, Jajo, Kathana, Qamar, Helen, Roopmala, Ulhas etc in it.

“Taj” (1956) was a Dossi Films Production. It was produced by Fali Mistry and directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. The movie had Vyjayantimala, Pradeep Kumar, Bipin Gupta, Jeevan, Shakuntala, Kammo, Amar, Jajo, Kathana, Qamar, Helen, Roopmala, Ulhas etc in it. This movie had a storyline that was clearly influenced by “Naagin” (1954) and even the starcast was more or less the same in this movie. Instead of “been”, this movie had “baansuri” though.

“Taj”(1956) had virtually the same team as “Naagin” (1954). The makers of “Taj” (1956) obviously hoped to replicate the commercial success of “Naagin” 91954) by doing that. I am not sure how much of a commercial success “Taj” (1956) was. It was certainly nowhere close to “Naagin” (1954), that is for sure.

In Hindi movies, we have several songs that allude to Lord Krishna and his baansuri (flute). I wonder why I did not have a category for such songs. Indeed there are so many songs of this category that I should have thought of it. Now I have finally opened a “Baansuri” category and hopefully this will cover most songs of this genre.
