This movie was “Darr”, a Yash Chopra movie, where the upcoming hero Sharrukh Khan played a negative role and stole the thunder.
And it was this song that defines his character in this movie, that of a psycho who is obsessed about possessing the girl of his dream, who is already married to someone else.
Udit Narayan sang this song, and sang it so well that this song became one of the ain attractions of the movie, rather than an opportunity for audience to leave the movie hall. Lyrics are by that master lyricist Anand Bakshi and music was by Shiv Hari ( short for Shiv Kumar Sharma- santoor exponent and Hari Prasad Chaurasiya- flute exponent). The music director duo, who got very few opportunities to work as independent music directors perhaps had their finesh hour in this movie as music directors.

Shiv Hari unfortunately got very few movies, and their movies as music directors resulted in some nice music.

There are foolish producer directors who left some of the finest Music directors and chose others resulting in disaster.
Yash Raj films left Shiv Hari ( Silsila / Darr), Sooraj Kumar Barjatys left Ram Laxman( Maine Pyar Kiya/ Hum Apke hain kaun) and earlier Dev Anand left jaidev ( Hum Dono) etc.

I like this song very much.
I had no idea this was Shiv-Hari’s composition.
So Yash Chopra did use them after Silsila.
