It was an out and out timepass song. But it was so good that it became an evergreen song, and an immortal song as well. So if one ever wants to listen to an evergreen timepass song, look no further than this song.
As a very impressionable 6 year old kid, I was totally sold on this song. Of course there were other songs as well, but this one was the defining one.
This is a duet, but Rafi totally steals the show. And listening to this song, one is just amazed at the range and the versatility of Rafi. He sings this energetic song with such verve, and he could sing sad brooding songs with just as much involvement. And he could sing songs of many other moods just as expertly. A true phenomeno of our times.
The song is picturised on Shammi Kapoor and Mumtaz. The song and dance, both were big raze those days, and the popularity of this song is still intact. Mumtaz in her trademark orange colour sari, Shammi Kapoor at his charming best, and Pran the ubiquitous villain at his super surf whitest. A timepass bollywood song did not get any better than that those days.
One need not listen to serious songs all the time. There are occasions when one needs to let ones hair down and enjoy. And this song is just the song for such occasions when you want to let your hair down.

Same was the case with most little boys ( and perhaps girls too) as far as this song was concerned.

Nice fast number, Rafi is amazing. I also feel Suman Kalyanpur was not given enough chances. She had a lovely voice.

Arrey, total timepass song.
Shammi Kapoor’s dance in this song is a hallmark of this song – with Mumu to match.
From the first time I heard this song as a little boy, I fell in love with it.
