“Shraafat” must be one of the first movies where Dharmendra and Hema Malini were paired together, and they soon became the number one pair of Bollywood movies.
When I think of Dharmendra and Hema Malini ,I am always reminded of Dharmendra being tied up and exhorting Hema Malini not to dance infront of the villains.
That was in Sholay, but even earlier he was loathe to see Hema dance infront of others. But she would often disregard Dharmendra’s wishes. Look at this song. She is dancing, much to the discomfiture of Dharmendra in this song.
This song itself is typical Laxmikant Pyarelal one, where lyrics used to be written by Anand Bakshi. And now I am discovering that Lata too sang songs like cabaret, mujra etc which I thought to be Asha Bhonsle’s preserve. This song is indeed one of the better known mujra songs. Incidentally, I was not aware of this song being a mujra song sung in a kotha. No wonder Dharam ji looks so unhappy throughout this song.

I remember seeing this movie as a boy.
If I am not mistaken it was a massive hit.
And this song also was a big hit.
