Chandan sa badan chanchal chitwan
Posted on: December 20, 2008
“Saraswati Chandra” was a movie with Manish and Nutan in the lead. Nutan was ofcourse a well known name for one decade, but this person Manish was a debutant and this movie turned out to be his first and last appearance on the silver screen and he was soon forgotten.
But there is no way one can easily forget the music of this movie. Indewar’s lyrics and kalyanji Anandji’s music, sung by Mukesh and Lata in the movie led to some memorable songs which have gone on to become timeless classics.
This Mukesh song ” Chandan sa badan, chanchal chitwan” is definitely a memorable song. I first listened to this song in 1970s and I liked it very much. And this song can still crate the same magic as it did in the past. It is a timeless classic, no doubt about that.
PS-This sng has a female version too which is sung by Lata. Now I have included the lyrics of this version too which were sent by Avinash Scrapwala.

chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
mujhe doshh na denaa jag waalon
mujhe doshh na denaa jag waalon
ho jaaun agar main deewaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
ye kaam kamaan bhanve teri
palkon ke kinaare kajraare
ye kaam kamaan bhanve teri
palkon ke kinaare kajraare
maathe par sindoori sooraj
hothon pe dahakte angaare
saayaa bhi jo teraa pad jaaye
saayaa bhi jo teraa pad jaaye
aabaad ho dil kaa veeraanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan…
tan bhi sundar man bhi sundar
tu sundartaa ki moorat hai
tan bhi sundar man bhi sundar
tu sundartaa ki moorat hai
kisi aur ko shaayad kam hogi
mujhe teri bahut zaroorat hai
pahle bhi bahut main tarsaa hoon
pahle bhi bahut main tarsaa hoon
tuu aur na mujhko tarsaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
mujhe doshh na denaa jag waalon
mujhe doshh na denaa jag waalon
ho jaaun agar main deewaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan

Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon o
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon
Ho jaaye agar dil deewaanaa
Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
Ye vishaal nayan jaise neel gagan
Panchhi ki tarah kho jaaun main
Sarhaana jo ho teri baahon ka
Angaaron pe so jaaun main
Mera bairaagi man dol gaya
Mera bairaagi man dol gaya
Dekhi jo adaa teri mastaana
Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
Tan bhi sundar man bhi sundar
tu sundartaa ki moorat hai
Kisi aur ko shaayad kam hogi
mujhe teri bahut zaroorat hai
Pehle bhi bahut dil tarsaa hai
Pehle bhi bahut dil tarsaa hai

Being a Mukesh number, I have heard it quite a few times in the 70s and 80s, thanks to my father, who was a Mukesh fan.

As i see in the list of songs – moviewise, all the well known songs of this movie are already discussed. But this song has a “LATA VERSION” too. Believe me i am not on the look out for such songs with 2 version but i keep finding them !
Here is the link to lata version:

All major music director of the golden era were fond of this method of creating two or more songs (except perhaps OPN).

OMG! I saw this “one time hero”, Manish, second time, in one song of film Vishnu Puran (1973) in a different Avataar. Just see this clip.

@ Atul ji, the female version sung by Lata ji have different lyrics. I have sent the same to you just now (with new links, since I think that the earlier link for female version is not working).
Kindly check if we could post the same, and also add the tag ‘multiple version song’ to this song.
Thanks !!

I too heard this song for the first time in the 1970s.
You can listen to this song anytime.
I guess that is what timeless means.
