There are Shammi Kapoor fans who give their farmaishes to post songs where Shammi Kapoor is dressed like a female.
When I posted one such song, I found that Shammi Kapoor was not only in disguise, he was singing in a disguised voice too. Yes, he was singing in Shamshad Begum’s voice in that song, instead of Rafi’s voice.
This time, Shammi Kapoor is disguised behind a burkha and is riding in a truck along with several girls, including Sharmila Tagore.
Now, our heroes cannot miss such an opportunity and they must sing a song. So our Shammi Kapoor breaks into a song, and this time he does not even bother to disguise his voice by singing in Shamshad Begum’s voice.
The voice is very clearly Rafi’s voice. The truck driver, the one and the only Pran, smells a rat and comes behind the truck to ckeck up. Shammi Kapoor continues to sing, but takes care to keep his uncovered face away from Pran. When he faces Pran, it is with his face covered. And he grabs Pran by his collars and lifts him clear off the ground and then releases him, amking him fall unceremoniously to the ground.
Embarrased that a woman should do this to him, Pran sheepishly goes back to the driver’s seat and re starts the truck.
The song ? “Subhan Allah haseen chehra ye mastaana adaayen” of course. And this song is yet another of a long long list of outstanding Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs.

I came upon your site this week. Lovely old songs! I think there’s one song on Sharmila that’s missing from ALL the recordings from VHS to dvds, because I’ve heard it on the audios. And,to my knowledge, there’s one other movie with SK and Vyjayanthimala which I’ve seen-College Girl. Great information and love your site,thanks.
