Bane huye ek khaakh se
Posted on: February 5, 2009
I have posted as many as 4 songs from “Aarti” (1962) already. But I have not run out of songs from this movie. There are a few nice songs yet to be posted from this movie.
This song “bane huye ek khaak se” is a song that I had not heard before, unlike the other four songs already posted. This particular song, which is sung by Lata may not have become as popular as other songs of this movie, but it is a nice song. I liked it the very first time I listened to it.
Meena Kumari sings this song on stage in a function and the listeners, among others, has Pradeep Kumar too.
With so many nice songs in this movie, I think I should watch this movie to find if it was all about nice songs or did it have some story too, when the lead actors were not singing one song after another.
Indeed, going by the quality of songs, this movie must have been a milestone for Roshan ( music director) and Majrooh Sultanpuri ( the lyricist).
Song-bane huye ek khaak se (Aarti) ( 1962) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Roshan
Lyrics
aaa
Bane huye ek khaak se
to door kyaa kareeb kyaa
Bane huye ek khaak se
to door kyaa kareeb kyaa
Bane huye ek khaak se
to door kyaa kareeb kyaa
lahu ka rang ek hai
ameer kya ghareeb kya
bane huye ek khaak se
wahi hai jaan wahi hai tan
kahan talak chhupaaoge
wahi hai jaan wahi hai tan
kahan talak chhupaaoge
pahan ke reshmi libaas
tum badal na jaaoge
ke ek zaat hai sabhi
ke ek zaat hai sabhi
to baat azeeb hai
lahu ka rang ek hai
ameer kya ghareeb kya
bane huye ek khaak se
ghareeb hai wo isliye
ke tum ameer ho gaye
ke ek baadshah hua
to sau fakeer ho gaye
ghareeb hai wo isliye
ke tum ameer ho gaye
ke ek baadshah hua
to sau fakeer ho gaye
khata ye hai samaj ki
khata ye hai samaj ki
bhala bura naseeb kya
lahu ka rang ek hai
ameer kya gareeb kya
bane huye ek khaak se
jo ek ho to kyun na phir
dilon ka dard baant lo
jo ek ho to kyun na phir
dilon ka dard baant lo
lahu ki pyaas baant lo
rukhon ki dard baant lo
laga lo sab ko tum gale
laga lo sab ko tum gale
habeeb kya rakeeb kya
lahu ka rang ek hai
ameer kya gareeb kya
bane huye ek khaak se

thats as good a title as any. I am not going to spoil this for you, but the twists and decisions they had to make in this plot were, ahemmm, very creative.

It was sheer melodrama as only a Hindi film can come up with.
It might surprise you to know that whenever Meena Kumari took a break from singing in this movie, she was actually a working doctor! And Ashok Kumar had a very very unusual role for him.
Or maybe Lata’s voice would heal anyone…
