Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Aaja tujhko pukaare mere geet re

Posted on: February 13, 2009

This is a song which very much contains the name of its movie as well. Yes, “aaja tujhko pukaare mere geet” is a song from “Geet”. And as iconic songs go, this song is as iconic as they come.

This is one of the most memorable songs sung by Rafi and Lata.

This song was picturised on Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha and the song has easily outlived the movie and has gone on to become an evergreen classic.

Someone who went to a live Rafi concert in the UK in the 70s said it started off with the initial “Mere Mitwa…..” and his voice just floored him/sent him to heaven, whichever way you might like to put it.

I really really envy that experience.

Thanks for the song, Atul
However, one stanza is missing..Naam na Jaano Tera Des Na Jaano

The audio version indeed has that stanza. But I have posted only those words that are there in the video. And the video version is often curtailed and sometimes different from the audio version.

Atul, there seems to be a confusion here. The solo song Aaja Tujhko Pukare was sung by Rafi in the movie Neel Kamal. The video you have posted here is a duet sung by Rafi and Lata I guess from the movie Geet.

Yes, it is a duet song. It is just that I subconsciously thought this to be a Rafi solo. “Neelkamal” song is a Rafi solo, whereas this “Geet” song with similar initial words is a duet.

Thanks Atul. Clearer now :). I also find that the movie Geet had a solo version of this song by Rafi :). Makes is even more confusing does it not? ;).

Atul, Neelkamal song goes like this…. Tujhko pukare mera pyaar aaja mai to mita hu …… the word Aaja is not in the starting. That will clear all the confusion. What do you say?
