I have posted quite a few “chitthi” songs from 1970,1980 and 1990s. It is not that such songs were not there in the earlier decades. Not at all. There were such “Chitthi” songs in 1960s too.
Here is one such song sung by Rafi and picturised on Shashi Kapoor and Asha Parekh. The movie is “Kanyaadaan” (1968). Neeraj was the lyricist and Shanker Jaikishan had composed the music.
The “chitthi” songs of later decades talked about the feelings of wife/ other relatives who were separated because of unavoidable and difficult circumstances, whereas this song from 1960 is a love song in comparison. As the picturisation shows, the two people are very much united in this song, unlike the “Chitthi” songs that I have posted earlier.
