“Mera Naam Joker” was a labour of love for its makers, but nothing went right for it.
The movie had some nice music, but the failure of the movie definitely affected its songs as well. Except a few songs, other songs were badly affected, I feel.
Take this song from “Mera Naam Joker” for instance. It is such a light hearted kids’ song, but it never became as popular as other kids songs viz “insaaf ki dagar pe” or “aao bachchon tumhe dikhaayen”.
When one looks at this song dispassionately four decades after it was first recorded, one realises that this was a very good kids song. it is judst that misfortune befell his movie and as a result its songs did not become as popular as they should have.
In this song, one can see Rishi Kapoor playing a young Raj Kapoor. Three years later, he would be seen as a grown up hero in “Bobby”.
It is an interesting song sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The voices of Mukesh and SimI Garewal can also be heard, besided that of the chorus.
