There are different singers who have different effects on their listeners.
Hemant Kumar is one singer whose songs tend to establish a direct line of communication with the heart strings of the listeners.
Most, if not all, of his songs are “chaayageet” category of songs in my assessment, and that makes them timeless classics. His voice was magical, and the effect that his voice could have on the listeners was well “magical”.
Here is a song from “Satta Bazaar”, a 1959 movie. Gulshan Baawra is the lyricist while Kalyanji Anandji, then newcomers composed the music.
The song is picturised wonderfully on Suresh and Vijaya Chowdhary. It is an out and out “chaayageet” song, in the audio as well as in its picturisation.

very melodious song coupled with heart rending lyrics. Where are such artists in the present film world.
