Tum aa gaye ho noor aa gaya hai

When the makers of this movie made this movie, no one was left in any doubt that the movie was based on Mrs Indira Gandhi’s life, with Suchitra Sen playing her role. And very imaginatively, they called his movie “Andhi”, removing the first letter “G” from “Gandhi”. The movie was released during emergency, and to this day, I am amazed at the risk that the makers of this movie took. Another movie, “Kissa Kursi ka” which mocked Indira Gandhi and her son, did not meet with the same kind fate with the censors at that time.
“Andhi” is also remembered for some memorable music composed by R D Burman on the lyrics of Gulzar.
Here is one of memorable songs from this movie. The song is a duet sung by Lata and Kishore KUmar, and it is picturised on Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar ( who plays Feroz Gandhi’s role).
