This song from “Chitchor” (1976) heralded the arrival of Amol Palekar as a hero in small budget Bollywood movies.
I thought that this song was the Hindi debut for Yesudas as a playback singer, but I was wrong. He had already sung for Salil Chowdhury one year earlier in “Choti si baat”. But this is one song that certainly catapulted Yesudas to fame.
Initially I had difficulty getting used to the pronounciation of Yesudas in this song. But after so many yeras , now that I have got used to it, this soundIndian pronounciation sounds so incredibly sweet to me now.
This song from “Chitchor” was written and composed by ravindtra jain. The song was picturised on Amol palekar, Zarina Wahab (another debutant) ans master Raju ( a kid who refused to grow one inch throughout 1970s in numerouds movies in which he figured).
As I mentioned earlier, this is an incredibly sweet song to listen to.

This become very popular then and was frequently heard. My another favorite is ‘aaj se pehle, aaj se jyaada’… ! Magical Yesudas !!
I think most of the songs in my list of ‘songs that bring back memories are from 1974 & 1976’… let us see…
