Hullo Atuldom

19th July- our blog turns an year older. I have been writing for the occasion for a few years now. (Think the habit set-in in 2015 or 2016). But I seem to have missed writing a post in 2021. Here is my post from 2020. Whatever I have said in that post still holds true for me.

I am still thankful that I discovered the blog and thankful that Atulji gave us this platform where novices like me have a place to post our thoughts. Thankful that Atulsongaday gave me a new set of HFM loving friends who have a wealth of information which has enriched us. There are some among the regulars who I have met a few times and some whom I have never met – Atulji included. Let us hope we have a grand party where all Atulites and Satulites congregate. As Rajaji has said in the comments to my post (on 19th July 2020), and I quote “We all might have got onto this journey at different stations but it has been a wonderful journey, with lots of memories and shared experiences.”

In my post on 19th July 2020 I had mentioned my blog journey but I simply love what Sudhirji has written in his post dated 19th July 2012. And I quote “I suggest to Atul ji, to put up a Statutory Warning on the home page – that the new visitors be aware that this website is intensely habit forming – enter at your own risk. 🙂 🙂 ”

This blogsite is indeed very addictive.

The following are Atulji’s thoughts on his post of 19th July 2020

“Once again, I thank one and all on the occasion of the birthday of the blog. Let us hope and wish that this musical bandwagon will keep rolling on and on for many more years.”

To which I say ‘Tathastu’ or ‘Ameen’ or ‘So Be It’

May we have many more birthdays of our favourite blog and may we find many more gems.
I am not attempting a blog-ten-year-challenge. Just out of curiosity I visited the post of 19th July 2012 and these are the songs posted on that date.

Blog post number Song Movie (Year) Poster YIPPEE status
6265 Allah megh de paani de Palkon Ki Chhaaon Mein(1977) Atul Ji YIPPEED
6266 Chupke se dil de de nahin te shor mach jaayegaa Maryada(1971) Atul Ji YIPPEED
6267 Aa bhi jaa meri duniya mein Daaera(1953) Raja ji YIPPEED
6268 Ye kaafilaa hai pyaar ka chalta hi jaayegaa Lekh(1949) Sudhir ji Not YIPPEED
6269 Duniya mein rehna hai to kaam karo pyaare Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) Atul Ji YIPPEED

As can been seen five songs were posted of which only one movie is yet to be yyiippeeeed, and I have no clue as to the availability of the songs of that particular movie viz. “Lekh” (1949). But three of the songs posted that day featured the much-loved Rajesh Khanna. He had just said ‘goodbye’ to this mortal world on 18th. Gosh!!! unbelievable, it is already ten years!!! As Rajesh Khanna has mouthed in one of his songs-

“waqt chalta hi rehta hai rukta nahin
ek pal mein ye aage nikal jaata hai”

Even though he has said in another song “Yahaan kal kya ho kisne jaana”.

Let us have a song from a Rajesh Khanna movie today and recall his lovely smile, expressive eyes and dancing style.

Currently I am on a short vacation, along the Western Sea Coast of this lovely country of ours. Soaking in the sea and the rains, much like the date in 2014 when the 10000th song was being awaited by the followers. I also seem to be making a habit of taking a break from routine around this time of the year.

I tried looking up for a Rajesh Khanna song that is filmed on a beach, Goa specifically. Could only recall the iconic song from “ANAND”. The other song which features Rajesh Khanna as a fisherman has been posted. Hence I am settling for the following. (Rajesh Khanna fans on the blog will definitely think up of more Kaka songs on the beaches and seashore)

The song is from the 1976 release “Mahaachor” which had music by RD Burman and Anand Bakshi was the lyricist. The playback singers used were Asha Bhonsle-Lata Mangeshkar-Kishore Kumar. There was a very Punjabi-flavoured song which had Rajesh Khanna in disguise. He looks lean & handsome and Neetu Singh looks charming as the ‘roothhi biwi’. The couple seem to be running from the cops and suddenly leave the vehicle to break into the song. That song has Anand Bakshi giving his voice for Rajesh Khanna (I think it is a first) and Asha Bhonsle sings for Neetu.

Happy Birthday to Atulsongaday.me

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # # BUNDLE BAAZ – 1976#
——————————————

Today’s song is from the ‘1976’ movie ‘Bundlebaaz’.

This movie had made its debut on the blog on 18.09.2012 with a lovely song ‘naghmaa hamaara gaayegaa ye zamaana’.
After the above song the second song from this movie was posted on 18.07.2017 which is yet another lovely song ‘bemausam bahaar ke din kaise aaye’.

‘Bundlebaaz’ had four songs only and when I shared its first song in 2012 I had also shared one more song around the same time in 2012-2013. This is the song we are going to listen and enjoy today.

“Bundlebaaz” or ‘Bandalbaaz-1976’ was directed by Shammi Kapoor for ‘Pushpa Pictures, Bombay’.
It was produced by H.A. Nadiadwala.

It had Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Sulakshana Pandit, Johny Walker, Asrani, Ranjit, Farida Jalal, Dev Kumar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Kamal Kapoor, Mukri, Lalita Pawar, Mushtaq, Tuntun, Abhimanyu Sharma, Hangama, Moolchand, Viju Khote, Jerry, Bihari, V. Gopal, Haroon and others.

Story and screenplay of this movie was written by K.K. Shukla and dialogues were written by Kader Khan.
Editing of this movie was done by Pran Mehra.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 04.12.1976.

As mentioned above this movie had four songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed to music by R.D. Burman.

Here is the list of songs this movie had and the singers for the respective songs.

04 Bemausam bahaar ke din kaise aaye Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar 18.07.2017

So far two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.

Today’s song is the third song from this movie to be discussed on the blog.

Earlier when I noted the lyrics for the today’s song and watched it I was guessing about the song situation, because the words ‘baatliwaala’, ‘dibbewaala’ in the lyrics made me think that this must be a song by a ‘scrapwala’  (and yes it is!) 

During the preparation of this post I came across the story of this movie on ‘memsaabstory.com’. Let us have a look on the interesting story line of this movie till the today’s song…

“Our story opens at college, where an impoverished student named Raja (Rajesh Khanna) dreams of making it big and winning his true love Nisha (Neetu Singh look-a-like Sulakshana Pandit).
His rival for her affections, Ranjit (Ranjeet) is the class bully and a cheat; but Ranjit’s father and Nisha’s father are close friends and want their children to get married when they graduate. Raja’s roommate and best friend Gopal (Asrani)—also poor—knows the truth of his circumstances, but Raja has fooled everyone else into believing he has a rich father (as most of them do). After he graduates he returns to his village, where he discovers that his sister Malti (Farida Jalal) and his aunt (Lalita Pawar) are being harassed by the local moneylender to repay the money lent to them for Raja’s education, or he will force Malti to marry him. Raja is overwhelmed at their sacrifices.

He returns to Bombay to find work so he can send money home, and is befriended by Sulaiman (Johnny Walker), who buys bottles and boxes for recycling, and teaches Raja the trade. Raja begins earning money and sends some home to his village. He also meets Gopal again, but doesn’t contact Nisha since he is too poor to court her. When he does run into her (as of course he must), she is going into a New Year’s Eve masquerade party, and thinks that his bottle vendor outfit is his costume. She drags him in with her, where he is tormented again by Ranjit, and further realizes the gulf between himself and Nisha (he entertains with a lovely song, “Kya Hua Yaaron”).”

(Interested readers can enjoy the story of this movie on ‘memsaabstory.com’)

Coming back to today’s it is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle and it is lip-synced by Rajesh Khanna and Sulakshana Pandit respectively.

We can see Ranjeet, Pinchoo Kapoor, Mukri and many others during the picturisation of this song.

Let us now enjoy this wonderful musical composition by Pancham Da …

‘Bajrangbali-1976’ was a Joy Films, Bombay presentation directed by Chandrakant.

It had Dara Singh, Vishwajeet, Moushmi Chatterjee, Premnath, Shahi Kapoor, Mehmood, Bal Dhuri, Randhawa, Shahu Modak, Durga Khote, Sulochana, Sushma,
Ulka, Jaya Kaushalya, Asit Sen, Babu Raje, B.M.Vyas, Jagdish Raj, Master Ajay, Master Alankar, Kumar Dighe, Radheshyam, Ramrasila, Ram Mohan, Mukri, Azad, Hercules, Dhanraj, Polson, Moolchand, Krishnakant, Mahesh Bhatt and Sumitra Devi, Jayshree Gadkar, Dulari in Special appearance.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 12.08.1976.

‘Bajrangbali-1976’ had total eleven songs in it (including one three part and one two part song). All songs are penned by Kavi Pradeep and music for this film was composed by Kalyanji-Anand ji.

‘Hanuman Jayanti’ is being celebrated today on this day of ‘Chaitri Poornima’. On this occasion here is song from this movie ‘Bajrangbali’. Today’s song is sung by Aziz Nazaan and composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. Lyrics are by Kavi Pradeep.

Today’s song happens when somebody from Hanuman Angad sena has to take fly to Lanka in search of Maata Seeta. However nobody has the powers in some way or the other and everybody is requesting Bajrangbali to take this responsibility on his shoulder as he is having all the ‘divyashaktis’. However Bajrangbali is not aware of his powers and so Narad Muni sings this song reminding Bajrangbali his ‘divya shaktis’.

I am unable to identify the actor playing Narad Muni. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the songs of this movie.

I had watched this movie in my childhood and had vague memories of it. However, I always remember the other song from this movie – hey manwaa re – which I had presented on the blog earlier on 19.11.2016.

Let us now listen to today’s song beautifully sung by Aziz Nazaan.

Today (20 November 2021) is the birthday of Minu Purushottam (DoB 20 November 1944). She made her debut in Hindi movies in 1963 with “Tajmahal”(1963), under the music direction of Roshan. The song was Naa naa naa re haath na lagaana , a duet alongwith Suman Kalyanpur. The lilting song from “Ye Raat Phir Na aayegi”(1966), Huzoorewaala jo ho izaajat , a duet with Asha Bhonsle, is quite a popular song to this day. Both songs incidentally were picturised on Helen and Madhumati (Helen clone).

Though overshadowed by the bigger name playback singers, she still has sung songs that were popular on their days. Unable to make much headway in Hindi movies, she switched over to non film songs. Later, she migrated to USA and lived there at Houston where she taught music.

On the occasion of her birthday, here is a song from “Qasam”(1976). This movie was directed by Ramesh Bedi for Kunwar Films Bombay. The movie had Radha Saluja, Satish Kaul, Laxmi Chhaya, Ranjeet, Nana Palsikar, Chandrashekhar, Vasti, Mohan Sherry, Junior Mehmood, Paintal, Ravi Kumar, Renu, Sukhbeer Kaur, Pratap, Darshan, Master Avinash, Baby Geeta etc in it.

This “social” movie had six songs in it. Two of these songs were duts sung by Minu Purushottam and Rafi.

Here is one of these songs. The song is penned by Mahendra Dehalvi. Music is composed by Surinder Kohli.

A poor quality partial video of the song is available. It shows that the song is picturised on Laxmi Chhaayaa ( I hope I have identified her correctly) and Ranjeet (villain in Hindi movies those days). I request our knowledgeable readers to help confirm/ refute my identification of the lady in the picturisation.

The audio contains the full song. The lady asks her lover to take her to Kashmir, or at least to nearby Chandigarh or Amritsar, but her lover is so ridiculously “kanjoos” that he would not agree to take her out of the village. 🙂

With this fogotten song, which is quite hummable to listen to, “Qasam”(1976) makes its debut in the blog.

Today (4 november 2021) is the Deepaawali, the festival of lights.

Believe it or not, this happens to be the 14th deepaawali for the blog ! To last this long as a blog is quite an achievement.

During the occasions of previous deepaawalis, we have discussed as many as 37 deepaawali songs. All popular Deepaawali songs, including iconic songs have been covered in the past.

When I checked up the past Deepaawali articles, I realised that I had covered many interesting topics while discussing deepaawali. One of those topics was air quality or lack thereof. It is considered a topical subject because whenever Deepaawali arrives, messages spring up in Indian social media telling us that firecrrackers that we burst during deepaawali pollutes the environment.

Of late, there have been some studies that have pointed out that pollution in India is not because of Deepaawali, which lasts for just one day but because of other reasons, that take place over longer durations.

The real cause for pollution in India is like this- 51% of air pollution is due to industrial activities, 27 % due to vehicles, 17% due to crop burning and only 5% due to fireworks.

There is this 80-20 principle, or Pareto principle which states that 20 percent activities give 80 percent of the results. So, we need to take care of these 80 % results and address the 20 percent activities that are causing them. So, if we in India are serious about improving air pollution, then we have to address the major contributors namely industrial activities, vehicle pollution and crop burning. Singling out Deepaawali, when 95 % of pollution is contribued by other activitites is hypocrisy and dishonesty on the part of these activists with selective agenda.

These activists would want us to believe that Indian cities are the most polluted and India is the most polluted country, because it is the only major country that celebrates Deepaawali.

I visited a site (iqair.com) that displays Air Quality index for major cities as well as nations. What I found in that site was quite revealing.

According to it, the top 15 most polluted cities of the world (at 8 AM on 4 november 2021) are :

SN Major City US AQI US AQI Classification
1 Lahore, Pakistan 289 Very unhealthy
2 Delhi, India 213 Very unhealthy
3 Beijing, China 199 unhealthy
4 Karachi, Pakistan 179 unhealthy
5 Kolkata, India 179 unhealthy
6 Shenyang, China 171 unhealthy
7 Dubai, United Arab Emirates 170 unhealthy
8 Mumbai, India 169 unhealthy
9 Wuhan, China 161 unhealthy
10 Dhaka, Bangladesh 160 unhealthy
11 Kabul, Afghanistan 158 unhealthy
12 Kathmandu, Nepal 152 unhealthy
13 Jakarta, Indonesia 150 unhealthy
14 Sofia, Bulgaria 139 unhealthy for sensitive groups
15 Kuwait City, Kuwait 132 unhealthy for sensitive groups

In the top 15 major cities, three Indian cities and one Nepali city figure. Other cities do not celebrate Deepaawali.

When I looked at the list of the most polluted countries in the world, I found that India is third in the list. The first two countries above India are our neighbours and they do not celebrate Deepaawali at all.

SN Country US AQI in 2020 (average) US AQI in 2019 (average) US AQI in 2018 (average) Population
1 Bangladesh 77.10 83.30 97.10 164, 689,383
2 Pakistan 59.00 65.80 74.30 220, 892,331
3 India 51.90 58.10 72.50 1,380,004,385
4 Mongolia 46.60 62.00 58.50 3,278,292
5 Afghanistan 46.50 58.80 61.80 38,928,341
6 Oman 44.40 5,106,622
7 Qatar 44.30 2,881,060
8 Kyrgyzstan 43.50 33.20 6,524,191
9 Indonesia 40.70 51.70 42.00 273,523,621
10 Bosnia Herzegovina 40.60 34.60 40.00 3,280,815
11 Bahrain 39.70 46.80 59.80 1,701,583
12 Nepal 39.20 44.50 54.10 29,136,808
13 Mali 37.90 20,250,834
14 China 34.70 39.10 41.20 1,439,323,774
15 Kuwait 34.00 38.30 56.00 4,270,563

So one can see that countries that do not celebrate deepaawali in their lands are even more polluted than India, the country that celebrates deepaawali. So the people who preach India about celebrating deepaawali should train their guns elsewhere if they are actually environment conscious.

It also shows that the reasons for pollutions lie elsewhere. It is indiscipline and third worldly lack of environmental awareness that is the major cause of pollution in these countries. Some of these countries claim to be progressing on the basis of vague figures of GDP per capita or Human development index, but when one looks closely, it turns out that these countries are plucking low hanging fruits, while disregarding pollution laws, minimum wages laws, safety laws etc.

If one wants to have an idea of the development of a country, the best way to gauge its development is its Air Quality Index(AQI). If one looks at the above tables, one finds that all the top polluting countries and cities are third world countries and their cities. Countries that are developed do not figure at the top. Even advanced nations neighbouring third world nations have good AQI while their neighbouring third world countries have poor AQI figures. Some examples of such advanced economies surrounded by third world economies are Israel and Singapore.

So unless a country addresses its environment and cleans up its air, it will not become a developed nation. India is definitely not going to become a developed nation any time soon, seeing its AQI. Same is true for China as well. Their GDP figures may look impressive, but it is gradually coming out that much of their GDP figures may be manipulated and fake. When one looks at AQI index of China, we find that China does figure among the top polluting nations, so it means that China is developing by disregarding enviroment. Sooner or later nature will get back at China. We can already see signs of that happening.

India needs to address its pollution problems, but for that, we first need to identify the real causes of pollution, instead of getting influenced by people with agendas.

I will discuss these matters in detail in future posts.

I have also discussed in the past that Deepaawali, where Goddess Laxmi is worshipped, is best celebrated if we worship Goddess Saraswati first. Worshipping Goddess Saraswati means getting educated, learning skills, upgrading our skills and becoming productive. Then we need to make use of our skills by producing goods and services, which is basically worshipping Lord Vishwkarma. When our goods and services get bought by consumers then we get money in return, or in other words, we are blessed by Goddess Laxmi.

Advanced nations, that figure low down in the list of polluting countries, follow the correct procedure of worshipping Goddess Laxmi. Much of their effort is on research and development (worshipping Goddess Saraswati) and then manufacturing goods or providing services ( worshipping Lord Vishwakarma). They do not consciously worship Goddess Laxmi, but Goddess Laxmi blesses them much more than she blesses Indians who seek to worship her just on the day of deepaawali, without first investing in worshipping Goddess Saraswati and Lord Vishwakarma.

So, I always try to tell my fellow Indians (who care to listen) that we are not worshipping Goddess Laxmi the right way. We need to worship her the way advanced Western countries worship her. Symbolic worship on one particular day will not do. Our worship should be round the clock throughout the year, and it should be to keep upgrading ourselves and keep giving goods and services that are in demand worldwide.

The festival of deepaawali, as it is celebrated in India, is easily the most important festival for Indian economy. Now that the effects of Covid 19 virus on India are receding, this deepaawali festival is likely to give a big boost to Indian economy, which is looking up after a forgettable year. I hope that the worst is over for India as well as the rest of the world.

On this occasion, I discuss a song from “Jai Mahalaxmi Maa”(1976). This movie was directed by Vijay Sharma for Pearl Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Ashish Kumar, Kanan Kaushal, Anita Guha, Chaand Usmani, Sapru, Sujata, B M Vyas, S N tripathi, Renu, Sundar, Bharhchaari, Dilip Dutt, Neelam, Sheikh, Anant Marathe, Helen, Dalda, Hari Shukla, Narmada Shankar , Habeeb etc. The movie also had special appearances by Jagdeep, Mahipal and Jeewan.

“Jai Mahalaxmi Maa”(1976) had five songs in it.

Here is the first song from the movie. This son, the theme song of the movie, is sung by Usha Mangeshkar and chorus. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.

The song is picturised on Kanan Kaushal and others.

With this song, “Jai Mahalaxmi Maa”(1976) makes its debut in the blog.

I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy, prosperous and safe deepaawali. Let us give our best (my way of worshipping Goddess Saraswati) and I am sure she will shower her wishes on us in abundant measure.

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 128 # A Tribute to Anand Bakshi#
——————————————-—————————

Today 30th March 2021 (21.07.1930 – 30.03.2002) is the nineteenth Remembrance anniversary of Lyricist Anand Bakshi. As a tribute to him here is a song from the ‘1976’ movie ‘Mahaachor’ On this occasion .

‘Mahaachor-1976’ was directed by Narinder Bedi for ‘Dachi Films Pvt Ltd, Bombay’. It had Rajesh Khanna, Neetu Singh, Prem Chopra, Kamini Kaushal, Manorama, Anwar Hussain, Krishna Dhawan, Manmohan, Rajan Haksar, Aruna Irani, Sonia Sahni (Special appearance), Master Lollipop, Viju Khote, Rajpal, Narbada Shankar, Jagdish Raj, Pinchoo Kapoor, Birbal, Pratima Devi, Rajnath, Moolchand, Ratnamala, Nishan Singh, Chandu, Dhanna, Mishrilal and others.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 16.10.1976.

This movie had six songs (as listed below) written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R.D. Burman.

S.No. Song Title Singer/s Posted On
01 Ae..ho..aa …mera naam yaaron mahaachor hai Kishore Kumar
02 Hindu hoon main naa musalmaan hoon Kishore Kumar
03 Sun Banto baat meri… naiyyo katni raat meri Anand Bakshi, Asha Bhonsle

05 Tu kya mujhe barbaad karega … Lata Mangeshkar
06 Meethhi meethhi ankhiyon se man bhar de Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle 18.07.2016

It can be seen that only two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog. The second song appeared after a gap of a little more than four years and six months after the first song. Incidentally today’s song, the third one from this movie, is appearing after a gap of more than four years and eight months (almost about five years). The earlier two songs were posted on anniversaries of Rajesh Khanna. Today’s song is being posted on the ‘Remembrance anniversary’ of Anand Bakshi – the lyricist for this movie.

Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and it is lip-synced by Rajesh Khanna. From the picturization of this song it seems to be lip synced after a communal clash between followers of to religions, where this song serves to preach the values of communal harmony

As mentioned above lyrics are by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by R.D. Burman.

In the year ‘1976’ Anand Bakshi wrote lyrics for the following movies;

S. No Name of the movie Music Director
01 Aap Beetee Laxmikant-Pyarelal
02 Baalika Badhu R.D. Burman
03 Baarood S.D. Burman

The songs from ‘Kabhie-Kabhie’, ‘Dharam Karam’ and ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ stood in the first three ranks respectively in the annual list of ‘Binaca-Geetmala’ that year in 1976. As many as eleven songs written by Anand Bakshi figured in this list of ‘1976’. These included songs from ‘Sholay-1975’, ‘Mehboobaa-1976’, ‘Jaaneman-1976’, ‘Warrant-1975’, and ‘Charas-1976’ as well.

let us now listen to today’s song. It is sung by Kishore Kumar. R.D. Burman is the music director and lyrics are by Anand Bakshi.

Hindu hoon main naa Musalmaan hoon

Hindu hoon main naa Musalmaan hoon
Mazhab se apne main anjaan hoon

Itnaa pataa hain main insaan hoon

Jisko pataa ho boley
Mazhab kaa raaz khole
Main jab paidaa hua thha
Likha hua nahin thha
Chehre pe naam mera
Sabko salaam mera
Logon ne jo bhi pukaara
Main ban gayaa bechaara
Baat samajh nahin aati
Kiskaa banoon main saathi
Taubaa hai

Bas itnaa pataa hai main insaan hoon oon

Likha padha nahin main
Rakhta hoon ispe yakeen main
Maine kahin suna hai
Kisi shayar ne kahaa hai
Mazhab nahin sikhaata
Aapas mein bair rakhna
Kehne ka ye matlab hai
Ye kaunsa majhab hai
Jisne tumhen bhadkaaya
Aapas mein ladna sikhaaya aa
Tum ho khafaa
Tum ho khafaa aur main hairaan hoon
Mazhab se apne main anjaan hoon
Bas itnaa pataa hai main insaan hoon oon
Itnaa pataa hai main insaan hoon

Om namah shivay nanah
Allah ho akbar r r r

Mandir masjid gurudwaare ae
Mandir masjid gurudwaare ae
Maalik ke ghar hain saare
Ha se Hindu banaa hai
Ma se Muslim banaa hai
Ha aur ma se jaano
Ham sab bane deewaanon
Do haath paanv mere
Do haath paanv tere
Jab jism hain ek jaise
Phir ham judaa hain kaise ae
Pehchaano main sach ki pehchaan hoon
Mazhab se apne main anjaan hoon
Bas itnaa pataa hai main insaan hoon oon
Itnaa pataa hai main insaan hoon

Devnagri Script lyrics (Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)
————————————————-

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 125 # Khaleefaa-1976
——————————————-—————————

Welcome all to this post where once again we are going back to ‘one song movie’ on the blog.
Today’s movie is ‘Khaleefaa-1976’. This movie made its debut on the blog on 02.09.2008 with its most popular song ‘dil machal rahaa hai, rang badal rahaa hai’.

However, the movie is waiting for its second song since 02.09.2008 and that makes a ‘4579’ days l-o-n-g wait for this movie … (so, as of now, this is the record for maximum days between first and the second song of a movie on the blog. The earlier record was for 4540 days here .).

One song falling in the above ‘scenario’ was posted before this post but it failed to mention this ‘highlight’ 😊
That song was from the movie ‘Ek Baar Phir-1980’. Its song ‘man kahe main jhoomoon main gaaun’ was posted marked the debut of this movie in the blog on 27.09.2008 hereas its second song ‘jeeewan ik saudaa hai’ was posted on 04.02.2021. (the difference between the first and the second song being ‘4514’ days). I think the ‘difference of more than ‘4000’ or may be ‘4500’ days should be our benchmark to include songs in this category. We will have the details of such songs in future post on the blog.

“Khaleefaa-1976” was directed by Prakash Mehra for ‘J.S. Films, Bombay’.

It was produced by Jeetendra Luthra.

This movie ‘Khaleefaa’ had Randhir Kapoor (in double role), Rekha, I.S. Johar, Soniya Sahni, Praveen Pal, Jankidas, Hari Shivdasani, B.B. Bhalla, Yunus Parwez, Madan Puri, Mohan Choti, Urmila Bhatt, Ram Mohan, Rajan Kapoor, Shaukat Kaifi, Lalita Kumari, Arpana Choudhari, R.P. Sethi, Vikas Anand, Master Ripple and Pran with others in its star-cast.

It also had Lalita Pawar and Alka in guest appearance.

Story idea of this movie was by Lalit Sehgal. Sudhakar had done editing of this movie and Pran Mehra was the Chief Editor.

Dialogues of this movie were written by Anand Romani and Screenplay was written by Nabendu Ghosh.

‘Khaleefaa-1976’ had four songs (one song being in two parts) written by Gulshan Bawra, and composed to music by the genius ‘Pancham Da’ i.e., R.D. Burman. (HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) also mentions one Instrumental music as a part of songs released on the movie’s records.
Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Manna Dey had given their voices to the songs in this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 19.03.1976 i.e., almost forty-five years back now…

Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar. On screen it is Rekha and Alka lip-syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice and Randhir Kapoor lip syncing in Kishore Kumar’s voice.

In the picturization of this song we can see Randhir Kapoor romancing with the two ladies and trying to keep both of them ‘happy’. I don’t know how far he succeeds in this effort, as I have not watched this movie.

Today’s song is also a new song for me because I do not remember to have listened to it earlier or maybe I have forgotten. Out of the four songs of this movie I find only this song ‘dil machal rahaa hai, rang badal rahaa hai’ as a familiar song. While preparing this post I listened to one other song of this movie that I plan to discuss in separate post in the future 😊 Pancham Da’s music is entertaining and well in full flow similar to the other entertaining compositions he was composing during that period of ‘mid-seventies’.

Let us now enjoy today’s song and welcome this second song of ‘Khaleefaa-1976’ composed by R.D. Burman.

chaahe ae ye duniyaa aa
kuchh bhi kahey ae

ye duniyaa aa
kuchh bhi kahey ae
