It was directed by Satish Kumar for ‘Jayshree Enterprises’. Babubhai N. Shah was the producer of this movie.
The cast of this movie included Kanan Kaushal, Ashish Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Abhi Bhattacharya, Jeevan, B.M. This movie has six songs –all written by B.D. Mishra. Music for this movie was composed by Anil-Arun.
Mukesh, Mahendra Kapoor, Asha Bhonsle, Anuradha and Usha Mangeshkar had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
Here is the list of songs in this movie:-
SNo | Song Title | Singer/s |
---|---|---|
01 | Bhagwaan samaaye sansaar mein | Mukesh, Anuradha Paudwal |
02 | Jay jay Lakshmi maataa, tu sun le meri pukaar | Anuradha Paudwal |
03 | Aur bairaagi ban anuraagi, main hoon niraali | Asha Bhonsle |
04 | Meri laaj rahe nandlala | Mahendra Kapoor, chorus |
05 | Aaj baba aayenge, ham paawan ho jaayenge | Usha Mangeshkar |
06 | Paap na hone de dharti pe ye tera apmaan hai… dekh le aa ke apnaa jahaan | Mahendra Kapoor, Anuradha Paudwal |
Today we present the first song from this movie on the blog. This song is the title song as well as the ‘theme song’ of this movie which emphasizes the presence of God in everything that exists in this ‘mortal world’.
The first part of this song is played in the back ground when the titles of this movie are rolling on the screen.
This song is sung by Mukesh and Anuradha Paudwal. In the second part of this song we can see Jeevan (as Narad muni and disguising as Sadhu later) and Master Alankar lip-syncing this song in the voices of Mukesh and Anuradha Paudwal respectively. In this part the first stanza of the first part is repeated and added with another stanza. In the video we can also see other artistes and some child artistes too.
Picturisation of the third part shows Ashish Kumar lip-syncing in Mukesh’s voice and we can see many others listening to him.
The fourth part of this song is a sad version where we can see Kanan Kaushal and Ashish Kumar helping sick people and getting tired and exhausted in the end. This part is played in the background. We can also see other artist in the video of this song.
I guess that this movie was inspired by the success of ‘Jai Santoshi Maa-1975’ and the lead pair of this movie was repeated here too. HFGK (Vol-V) also mentions that this movie was earlier titled as ‘Kan Kan Mein Bhagwan’ as the records of songs of this movie were released by the this title.
Let us now listen to the today’s song of this movie and welcome ‘Bhagwaan Samaaye Sansaar Mein-1976’ on the blog …
Lyricist for the song is B.D. Mishra and music is composed by Anil-Arun.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutante Movie-Koi Jeeta Koi Haaraa-1976)
——————————————-——————————
(A tribute to Shashi Kapoor on his birth anniversary 18th March)
——————————————-————————————————————————-
Today 18th March’2023 is the eighty-fifth birth anniversary of actor-producer and director Shashi Kapoor.
He was born on 18th March’1938 and he passed away on 4th December’2017 at the age of seventy-eight.
Shashi Kapoor needs no introduction. There is a long list of movies he acted in. Many movies in the ‘seventies’ had him playing ‘lead’ or ‘supporting’ roles, and he was part of many movies of that decade (1971-1980) and even later.
Shashi Kapoor who started as a ‘child artist’ in Hindi movies later became Assistant Director, Actor, Producer and Director. He won many accolades and awards in his long film career.
As a tribute to him today I am presenting a song from one of his movies from the ‘seventies’.
We will get introduced to this movie on the blog today. This movie is ‘Koi Jeeta Koi Haaraa-1976’.
It was directed by for Sameer Ganguly for ‘Lakshmi Movies’.
‘Koi Jeeta Koi Haaraa-1976’ was produced by Anand Bhargava. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 09.06.1976.
The cast of this movie included Saira Banu, Shashi Kapoor, Romesh Sharma, Farida Jalal, Nazeer Hussain, Urmila Bhatt, Krishnakant, Manik Dutt, Jagdish Raj, Sharad Kumar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Master Shaka, Lalita Kumari, Tiger Kapoor, and others with Narendranath and Ranjeet.
Jagdeep and Junior Mehmood had a friendly appearance in this movie.
Story of this movie was written by the ‘Lakshmi Movies Story Department’. Scenario and dialogues of this movie was written by Agha Jani Kashmiri. Screenplay of this movie was written by Naiem. Editing of this movie was done by V.K. Naik.
‘Koi Jeeta Koi Haaraa-1976’ has five songs in it which all were written by Anand Bakshi. Music for this movie was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Mohd Rafi had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
Here is the list of songs in this movie :-
SNo | Song Title | Singer/s |
---|---|---|
01 | O baba, shaadi tum o baba na karnaa | Lata Mangeshkar |
02 | Ban gayi baat baaton mein … | Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle |
03 | Ae, oh, chup raho naa… aaj ham tum donon | Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle |
04 | Teri meri baat nahin kismat ka khel hain saara… Koi jeeta koi haaraa | Mohd Rafi |
05 | Hamne har ek galat kaam kiya hai … | Kishore Kumar |
I have neither watched this movie nor I have any recollections of songs associated with this movie’s name. However when I listened to the songs of this movie I find today’s song a little familiar and one which I had listened to earlier on radio or elsewhere.
Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. It is a ‘romantic song’ which is picturised on Shashi Kapoor and Saira Banu.
We can also see Romesh Sharma driving towards he end of the song.
Let us now listen to the song and remember Shashi Kapoor, thanking him for giving us so many fond memories of his movies and the various characters he essayed on the screen, some of which become memorable and unforgettable in the history of Indian Cinema.

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Fauji-1976)
——————————————-——————————
In my list of ‘songs that brings back memories’ there is one song from the movie ‘Fauji-1976’. This song ‘vardi hai bhagwaan fauji mera naam’, has been in my memory associated with the name of this movie, since my childhood.
I vaguely remember to have watched this movie with my Uncle during vacations at Akola city. I think this song was also my Uncle’s favourite or there must be some discussions about this song that it gets permanently embedded on my mind.
Later on this Uncle of mine joined the Indian Military (if I am correct that must be in 1981-82).
Other than this song I do not remember anything about this movie ‘Fauji-1976’. In later years, I came to know that it was directed by Joginder Singh. By the time I was grown up I became aware of this actor Joginder Singh too.
This movie ‘Fauji-1976’ made its debut on the blog long time back on 15.08.2012.
I was keen to know about the other songs from this movie and few years back I had watched this song ‘ki lamiyaa paa denge aa’ from this movie and I liked it too.
While going through the list of songs from this movie I noted that there is one solo song sung by Narendra Chanchal in this movie. Today I am presenting this song from ‘Fauji-1976’.
“Fauji-1976’ or ‘Fauzi’ was directed by Joginder for ‘J & J Art International’. It was produced by Prem Arora and J.S. Matti.
It had Vikram, Romesh Sharma, Nazneen, Aruna Irani, Jagdeep, Sujit Kumar, Arpana Chaudhury, Anjum Savera, Rajan Haksar, Randhir, Yogesh Chhabra, Johny Whisky, Sadhana Khote, Feroz, Kumar Sonik, Surendranath, Shahid Bijnori, Assie, Paresh Nanda, Tun Tun, Husna Banoo, Rattan Singh, Krishna Duggal, Gurcharan, Matti, Hakeem, Balbir, Jaswant, and Nazima with Joginder.
M.G. Hashmat and Dheeraj Kumar had a special appearance in this movie.
The story idea of this movie was by Prem Arora. Dialogues and screenplay of this movie was written by M.G. Hashmat who also wrote the lyrics for the songs in this movie.
Joginder who acted in this movie also directed it, and he was the writer of this movie too. Editing of this film was done by P.S. Wagle.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 14.01.1976.
This movie has six songs written by M.G. Hashmat. Music for this movie was composed by Sonik-Omi
Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi, Manna Dey, Chanchal, Minoo Puroshottam, Kumar Sonik, Mahindra Pal, Jaspal Singh and Joginder had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
In a very brief note about this movie I will only mention the following.
This story is about two ex-soldiers (as the titles of the movie also mention this), played by Vikram and Joginder. They are from a small village which is attacked and looted several times by a notorious dacoit played by Sujit Kumar.
The dacoit once attacked the villagers and particularly the father (played by Surendranath) of Vikram and Nazima and kills him. Joginder and Vikram are good friends. They were on the front when this dacoit attacked their village. When they are back and learn about this incidence they try to unite the villagers to fight Sujit Kumar and his gang with the help of student played by Jagdeep, Romesh Sharma, Aruna Irani and others.
The police also provide the much needed help to them. Dheeraj plays the role of Police Inspector.
Finally the dacoit is arrested and his gangsters are eliminated.
Today’s song is a background song from this movie which appears in parts in the movie. The central character in this song is Vikram’s Sister (played by Nazima) who is raped by the Dacoit Sujit Kumar when he raids the village and kills her father.
In the village there are two ‘sahukaars’ (played by Randhir and Rajan Haksar) who have a soft corner for the dacoit and they help him by providing him information about the villagers. They are assisted by a few goons from the villagers.
From time to time they try to molest and harass Nazima in the movie after the ‘rape incidence’. The other parts of this song appear in the background during such moments.
The lyrics of this song are poignant and pathos laden as they depict the mental condition of the girl after the unfortunate incidence and further adversities in her life. The soulful singing of this song by Narendra Chanchal makes it more poignant to listen to, epecially when he repeats the ‘mukhdaa’ when the song ends.
I have been a fan of Narendra Chanchal’s voice and his voice is one of those ‘special voices from the seventies’ which are purely nostalgic for me. The main article about Narendra Chanchal under the series of ‘special voices’, has been delayed from my side and it will be coming in the future on the blog. Meanwhile we also have to bring the very few songs sung by him in HFM on this blog.
Today’s song is one such song sung by him.
This song is the second song from the movie ‘Fauzi-1976’ on the blog. The full audio is being presented with the song. The video is in four parts as it gets played in the background partially on four different occasions in the movie.

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Debutant Movie-Gumraah-1976)
——————————————————————————
In my wish-list of ‘movies with same titles’ there are still many movies that are yet to be introduced on the blog. One can definitely say that this list is surely going to be a long list.
Today we get introduced to the movie ‘Gumraah-1976’. It will be joining the better known ‘Gumraah’ of ‘1963’ on the blog.
All of us are aware of the great songs of ‘Gumraah-1963’ written by Sahir Ludhianvi and composed by Ravi. The movie is one of the great movies of Hindi Film history.
Like all I am also aware of this ‘Gumraah’ of ‘1963. But the fact that there is another movie made with the same title in ‘1976’ in not known to many . I do not remember to have heard of this movie or its songs earlier.
This movie seems to be an obscure movie of its time but it has now been recently made available on internet.
Today we will listen to a nice song from this movie.
“Gumraah-1976” was directed by Prem Manik for ‘Sangeetraj Enterprises’.
It was produced by K.P. Sethi.
It had Reena Roy, Subhash Ghai, Danny Denzongpa, Iftekhar and Sheetal. They were supported by Keshto Mukherjee, Jagirdar, Ashoo, Yogesh Chhabra, Ashok Khanna, Monto, Mona, Shefali, Moolchand, Leela Mishra, Arpana Choudhary, Bhalla, Sudesh, Sandeep, Bharat Ashavani, B. Shrivastava, Ganesh, and others.
Actor Ranjeet had a special appearance in this movie. And B.B. Bheala, Maruti and Manorama had a friendly appearance in this movie.
Prem Manik who directed this movie was the writer of this movie. Editing of this film was done by I.M. Kunnu.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.10.1976. (In the footnote for this movie page HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) mentions that the movie was titled as “Andhi Jawaani” (presented by ‘Kalabharati’) earlier. And its EP/SP records were also released with this title earlier).
This movie has five songs written by Asad Bhopali and composed by Usha Khanna.
Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Suman Kalyanpur and Danny had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
SNo | Song Title | Singer/s |
---|---|---|
01 | He ho ho … haathh chhudaa ke mere haathhon se | Kishore Kumar |
02 | Aao neele gagan ke baadlon mein jhoolen | Mohd Rafi, Suman Kalyanpur, Danny Denzongpa |
03 | Khule khule narm narm gesoo | Kishore Kumar |
04 | La la la…Pyaase honthh chhalakte saagar ab to takraa jaane do | Asha Bhonsle |
05 | Zamaana jiski talaash mein hain wo dilrubaa mere saamne hai | Asha Bhonsle |
This movie ‘Gumraah-1976’ is making its debut on the blog today with a song sung by Kishore Kumar.
In the movie it is Subhash Ghai lip syncing the song which happens during the picnic of the college students. To celebrate the special evening the friends of Shyam (Subhash Ghai) in the movie request him to sing a song. Here he sings this lovely song (for Reena Roy). Also seen in the picturisation of this song are Danny Denzongpa, Sheetal, Maruti, and many others.
Let us listen to this lovely song written by Asad Bhopali and composed by Usha Khanna.
As mentioned above this movie ‘Gumraah-1976’ makes its debut with this song on the blog today.

Song-Khule khule narm narm gesoo (Gumraah)(1976) singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Usha Khanna
Lyrics
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo
fizaan mein bikhhre hon
khwaab jaise
jhuki jhuki
mast mast
aankhen
baras rahi ho sharaab jaise
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo
ho o o o
mere khwaabon mein
thhaa aa
bachpan se jo mukhdaa aa
ho o o o
mere saamne hai ab
wahi chaand ka tukdaa aa
jawaan badan mein wo baankpan
hai
khilen ho laakhon gulaab jaise
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo
ho o o o
honthhon pe tabassum
kabhi dil mein halchal
ho o o o
kayee raaz ki baatein
kahe dhhalkaa aanchal
sitam to ye hai ke us nazar ke
sawaal bhi hain jawaab jaise
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo
ho o o o
naa wo uthhkar jaayen
naa main nazren hataaun
ho o o o
yehi kehtaa hai dil
yoon hi dekhe jaaun
ghataayen chhaate hi be-iraadaa
piye koyi be-hisaab jaise
khuley khuley
narm narm gesoo

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Prem ka rog badaa buraa)
——————————————-——————————
#Claimer ( 🙂 ) #
“Today’s article is inspired from a real-life story and is based on real life experiences happening in our day to day life”
Any ‘resemblance’ of the story/character mentioned in the article is much expected (and is not a mere ‘coincidence’) with ‘everyman’/ ‘everywoman’s life especially who have been ‘immersed’ in love sometime in their life, and/or could not turned into a lifetime relationship.
Some of them could be ‘Hindi movie buffs’ and lovers of HFM (especially the songs of love –and songs of milan and judaai etc etc.) for which the author should not be held responsible or criticized or punished in ‘any’ form 🙂
So, the ‘claimer’ above would have given some hint about the article here today. Aaj ham dil ki baatein karenge or it will be more accurate to say ki aaj ham ‘toote’ huye dil ki baatein karenge 🙂
So, here we begin this story …
I have one of my childhood friends who is closed to me, and we two have many things in common. His life also has the similar ‘struggle’ and many similar incidents happened in my life. We were classmates from KG to 12th standard and both of us had to take to job early in our life leaving the formal education after 12th standard.
Well, whenever we are together we often discuss many things and refresh our childhood memories- memories related with cricket, of watching films, and memories of film songs of course!
During all such meetings and the discussions therein there would always be the discussion about the ‘crush’ this guy had in school days. If our meeting happens on weekends and accompanied by ‘drinks’ sometimes it would end with listening various songs from the seventies to pre-eighties and even singing and dancing with on the tunes.
Here we begin the story of this guy (my friend, hereinafter refer to as ‘hero’ of our story today).
This is sometime during 1977-1978.
So it happened that a new girl joined us in when we were learning in standard seventh when first semester had been over. Her father was a class two officer. Our parents were from class four employees.
Over the period this guy developed a liking for this girl and with supportive talks among friends group he fall in love – yes one sided only. In those times it would take time to open your heart so easily.
All of us were a staying in a small colony for the electricity board employees. So it would so happen on ‘Dushehra’ or other festivals and special occasions that all us would visit to all families in the colony and greet them. Our parents would also accompany us on such occasions. On all such occasions this boy and girl would meet and our hero would take all such meetings a chance to become friendlier with this girl.
Slowly this talk spread in the class and in the colony about this guy and this girl. Still everything was not as open and since all of us were still considered as ‘children’ nobody was as serious in this matter as this guy was. He started following this girl and dreaming about her. And then he also fall in love with all the golden oldies from Hindi movies ‘sau saal pehle mujhe tumse pyaar thaa’, ‘ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar’, ‘phool tumhe bheja hai khat mein’, ‘suhaani raat dhhal chuki’ etc etc.
As days passed , this guy had seriously fallen in love with this girl, with the girl totally unaware about this. When ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ came this guy easily related his character with the young Mayur (the young Sikandar) in the movie and this ‘girl’ was his ‘memsaab’ since she comes from a upper class family.
More than two years passed easily with our hero shining in the class as ‘monitor’, his friends making stories of him and this ‘girl’, our hero ‘burning’ himself in the ‘pyaar ki aag’ sometimes, or taking overdose of playing cricket etc etc. All the legendary stories of ‘Laila Majnu’ type going through his mind.
Finally the day arrived when the news came that the girl’s father was transferred to Koradi Thermal Power Station, near Nagpur.
Now that year was – ‘1982’- when we landed in on an important milestone of our life – standard tenth. We had to appear for board exams and that was an important year for anybody’s life and career.
This guy told his mother (in those days you cannot share something like this to your father. It was ‘highly hazardous ’and could have invited ‘beating blue and black 🙂 ) that he wants to go to Koradi to meet this girl. His mother was a working woman and she tried to make him understand this was not the right time for him for these things and he should focus on studies first and then think about this later after some years. For the time being the matter was put in the ‘cold storage’, but our hero silently suffered missing the heroine.
Years passed and our hero’s parents were also transferred to other location of the state electricity board’s unit in Marathwada region. So now the ‘geographical gap’ become wider than earlier which was from Akola to Nagpur.
After fairing good at the standard tenth exams our hero somehow could not fair good in his 11th and 12th standard studies’ as the subjects were not of his likings (same like me 🙂 ). And he focused more on cricket and watching Hindi movies especially of Rajesh Khanna.
So after 12th he took some job temporarily, thinking that he would return to studies later. But it did not happen and he continued his work life further forever.
In the meanwhile he was always missing this girl and once he gets chance to visit Nagpur for some official work. He visited his Uncle at Koradi and in the same colony he also met some of his childhood friends who were his classmates earlier. With the help of a friend he finds out what this girl was doing. She was pursuing medical studies (MBBS) at Nagpur (Mayo College (then) in Nagpur). So our hero with this friend visits the girl in the Hospital, but fortunately or unfortunately she didn’t recognize him and our hero’s friend was more in shock than our hero was ( ). He come back from Nagpur and shares the story to his bosses where he was working. His boss advised him to forget all and focus on career as he should be supporting his parents and brothers who came from a middle class family and since he was also the elder among the children he should be taking more responsibility (? ).
Well, our hero decided that before leaves this ‘story’ why not to vent out his feeling to the girl so that he would not have any regrets in life further. Because this girl had become a regular feature in his dreams and that would stir his heart only to increase his craving for her. (tujhko pukaare mera pyaar … aaja main to mitaa hoon teri chaah mein…)
So he thought that may be after venting out his feelings will give him relief and may help him to forget her if she did not have the same love for him too.
So, he wrote all his thoughts on paper (which was a ten page letter written on both sides of a long ‘ruled paper’ ) and posted her.
***
‘teri zulfon se judaayi to nahin maangi thhi ee ee ee….’
The heroine didn’t respond to our hero’s letter…
All sad and melancholic songs become his companion and he continued his journey for the future.…
He had to leave the home state or his job postings and years passed.
Our hero finally got married in ‘1994’ to a girl suggested by his parents. And the couple started their family life happily and had two daughters. Though our hero didn’t keep anything hidden and had told his wife about the happenings in his life.
No communication or contact happened with the heroine thereafter.
***
Our hero struggled hard. Completed his formal education via distance courses and also keep growing at professional front too.
Years passed … our hero still having the ‘bachpan ki muhabbat ko’ feeling in a corner of his heart…
In between whenever he had to visit Nagpur he used to look for his childhood friends and their whereabouts.
Internet and mobile connectivity had made inroads into Indian society … TV take a new ‘avtaar’ from ‘Doordarshan’ to ‘cable tv’ etc etc…
Advent of Internet and social media become platform for people to look for information about their lost contacts …
The ‘hero’ also took advantage of this and keep searching for the girl on internet. Sometimes getting results her name in the list of pass-out students from the university she was studying at Nagpur …
But still he was not aware where she was …
It so happened that after spending over twenty years outside the state he got an opportunity to stay in Nagpur for his job 🙂
He resumed the search … after all it is not easy to ‘forget your first love’ in life …
He got her address in Nagpur and thought to meet her, but returned back from mid-way that it was not morally right to do this after so many years … but just once … he wanted to meet her and see her … (bas ek baar nazar bhar ke usey dekh loon)
***
But destiny has some other thoughts. This guy had to leave Nagpur after two years and move elsewhere outside the state.
Years passed …. Our hero had a job-stint abroad and returned back after three years … Covid2019 happened… this fellow lost his new job in India and lost in depression with diagnosis of OCD. Medication started … he got a new job after few months and everything was again going normal … but somehow his heart still craving for the childhood days, and whereabouts of the girl…
Now the latest searches were not showing any result he earlier had though they still mentioned the same address of the heroine..
(roke zamaana chaahe roke khudaayi tumko aana padega) …:)
Hero was experimenting with his searches so once it so happened that he looked for the heroine’s father’s contact on ‘mukh-pustak’ and he got him there !!!
The heroine’s father had contacts of Heroine and her two sisters. And slowly our hero opened the contact page of the Heroine and with goose bumps get to see her latest photo after a gap of almost forty long years … the same beauty the same radiance …
Searching more information about her it was known that she now is renowned doctor in Nagpur city and had married a doctor. She too had two daughters (like our Hero has). And more importantly her phone number was also given there on the internet …
After getting her number he texted her about him and proposing an idea of ‘reunion’ of classmates. But no reply came. He tried to contact her but some technical glitch prevented the communication to happen. After few attempts the girl blocked his number without any communication happening. Request for adding friend is still pending …
Haunting dreams resumed again … the childhood place, school , meeting the girl , telling her about his love … Hero decided that now this time he will definitely meet her when he visits Nagpur…
But the big question was what to do with the dreams …
Why they come?
***
And it so happened that one day the younger daughter of our Hero find the name of this girl in search history of his phone …
I am now leaving it to your imagination what could have happened after that …
Papa you are stalking her? … (Our heroes daughters were also aware of his this story of childhood ‘crush’)
Somehow our Hero convinced his wife that there is nothing like that and he only want to see this girl who was studying with her just an excitement and nothing else…
Finally our Hero consulted our other common friend thinking that me too was a ‘highly sentimental’ like him, who told him to accept the reality and forget her ….
Boss I have tried my best … but when she comes in my dream I cannot tell you how my heart goes and the next many days I am lost in some different world altogether…
What say? Do you think our Hero will be able to get a chance to meet his ‘dreams girl’ at least once in this lifetime and get his wish fulfilled of seeing her after so many years …?
We do not know what is going to happen…
But for now we do have a song of the ‘dream girl’ from the world of cinema from those years …

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
———————————————————–—-
#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Lyricist/MD Ravindra Jain-Zid 1976)
—————————————
These days I am looking for missing movies of Lyricist Ravindra Jain (of course he is the music director as well), from the seventies, for some obvious reasons.
Recently I came across one such movie which I am not much aware of and I think I never got to listen to its songs. But, after listening to its songs I find the ‘holi’ song a familiar one and I was also surprised that it has not been posted on the blog so far. (however I guess it must have been sent by our other team members?)
This movie is ‘Zid’ from the year ‘1976’.
“Zid-1976” was directed by Vijay for ‘Prestige Films, Bombay’. It had Sachin, Sarika, Nutan, Om Shivpuri, Rajendra Nath, A.K. Hangal, Anwar Hussain, Madhu Malini, Kiran Seth, Yunus Parvez, Maruti, Urmila Bhatt, Tun Tun, Shivraj, Alankar, Sarita Devi, Raju, Ghosh, Miki, T.P. Jain, Prem Nath, Titoo, Sumit and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 21.08.1976.
This movie has five songs written by Ravindra Jain who was also the composer for this movie.
Here is the list of songs this movie has.
Sr.no. | Song Title | Singer/s |
---|---|---|
01 | Ho ho…is mitti ke kan kan ka hai upkaar | Mahendra Kapoor, chorus |
02 | Aa … tere liye maine thaami re maala | Asha Bhonsle, Jaspal Singh |
03 | Holi hai, ho ho … rang le ke deewaane aa gaye | Asha Bhonsle, Jaspal Singh, chorus |
04 | Teri palkon ke taley ye jo deepak hain jaley | Jaspal Singh |
05 | Ho, jab talak dam mein dam, tam lagaate raho | Asha Bhonsle, chorus |
Today I am presenting a song sung by Jaspal Singh from this movie. Regulars on the blog are well aware that I am big fan of Jaspal Singh. His songs from the ‘seventies’ are part of our beautiful memories and nostalgia associated with my growing years (1968-1983).
Lyrics for today’s song are by Ravindra Jain and music is composed by him too.
Today’s song is a birthday song which on screen actor Sachin is singing for Sarika. Also seen in the picturisation of this song are Prem Nath, Nutan, Master Raju and many others.
This song has beautiful lyrics and lovely singing by Jaspal Singh. It has some ‘grey’ shades too and that is something to do with the story of this movie which I am not aware of.
I do not remember to have read about this movie or any discussion about this movie among our friend circle. I think this movie was not a successful one and may have been forgotten easily.
Ravindra Jain’s compositions from the movies ‘Geet Gaata Chal-1975’, ‘Chitchor-1976’, ‘Fakira-1976’, and etc? ( 🙂 ) did feature in the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of the year ‘1976’ and he ruled the ‘hearts’ of music lovers then.
Let us listen to today’s song now.
With this song the movie ‘Zid-1976’ makes its debut on the blog.
We already have movies with the same title made in ‘1945’ – ‘Zidd’ and in ‘1994’ – ‘Zid’ on the blog. Today’s movie ‘Zid-1976’ made in between these years joins these ‘Zid’ now 🙂

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
———————————————————–—-
#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Qawwalis – Part-2 – Post 1)
—————————————
‘Qawwali songs’ have been an integral part of Hindi Film Music and there have been many memorable and immortal ‘qawwalis’ that we have enjoyed that Hindi Film Movies and Music have produced.
Since my childhood I have been very fascinated by ‘Qawwali’ songs and after coming into contact with this blog I have shared many ‘Qawwalis’ too.
I have also presented a series of ‘Qawwalis’ from the ‘seventies’ wherein I presented fourteen ‘qawwali’ songs.
I wrapped up this series on 10.10.2021 with this post ‘ham aaj ye kissa khatm karen’.
So far, eight more ‘qawwalis’ have been presented on the blog after this post of 10.10.2021.
There are still many ‘qawwali’ songs yet to be covered on the blog. I wish we should have regular posts coming with ‘qawwalis’ as it is always enjoyable and interesting to listen and watch to them.
Hence, I am taking this series as ‘Part-2’ on ‘qawwalis’ with a devotional ‘qawwali’ today. It is from the ‘1976’ movie ‘Nehle Pe Dehlaa’.
Incidentally the qawwali in the first post of the Part-1 series of Qawwalis was also from a ‘1976’ movie ‘Noor E Ilaahi’ ( badaa lutff thhaa jab qunwaare thhe ham tum).
Today’s movie ‘Nehle Pe Dehlaa-1976’ was produced by Sunil Dutt for his own banner ‘Ajanta Arts, Bombay’.
It was directed by Raj Khosla.
The cast of this film had Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Vinod Khanna, Bindu, Ranjeet, Premnath, Om Prakash (Special Appearance), Kamini Kaushal, Anwar Hussain, Trilok Kapoor, Tiwari, Dev Kumar (Guest appearance), Bharat Bhushan, Keshav Rana, Romeo, Shiv Kumar, Vikas Anand, Prem Kumar, Hercules, Daljit Rao, Pahalwan, Dhanraj, Vivek, Sonu, Bittu, Ejaz, Jilani, Ramesh and others.
Screenplay of this film was written by K.K. Shukla and dialogues were written by Satish Bhatnagar.
The Censor Board passed this film on 30.03.1976.
Here is a brief about this movie (which I had mentioned in my post with the song ‘main choron ki raani hoon’ from this movie on 31.05.2016)…
Harish (Bharat Bhushan (spelled as ‘Bharat Booshan’ in the titles of the movie) and Khan Sahab (Trilok Kapoor) are good friends and both work in Police.
Khan Sahab is SP and senior to Harish.Bharat Bhushan has two sons.
Mangal (Om Prakash) is Bharat Bhushan’s driver. He has a daughter Bhindi (bin Maa ki bachchi).
His daughter and the elder son of the Inspector are ‘natural’ 🙂 friends. On an Eid day Bharat Bhushan and his family, his wife Kamla (Kamini Kaushal) and two sons along with Om Prakash and his daughter, arrive at Trilok Kapoor’s house to greet him on the Eid day.
Trilok Kapoor has an urgent call and a tip-off about the ‘General’ the kingpin of the smugglers (jiske peecchhe Police barson se lagi huyi hai), and so he is just stepping out when Bharat Bhushan intervenes and offers him to enjoy the festival and taking the responsibility to nab the smugglers on his own.
Kopa Ka Baana (Copa-ca-bana 🙂 !!!)
Premnath in his typical villain avatar uttering, screaming, shouting ‘Kopaa Ka Baana’ (or ‘Copacabana’) all the film, manages to escape from the spot, but his ‘red diary’ falls there at the Beach (I wonder if this is the same diary 🙂 that was later used in the film ‘Don’ of Amitabh) which has the contact numbers and names of all the ‘whose who’ of the ‘under-world’. 🙂 )
To get hold of this diary Premnath plans to kidnap Bharat Bhushan’s children while Om Prakash is driving them to school.
Kopa Kaa Baana aa
‘Diary tumhaare paas aur bachche hamaare paas, ab farmaaiye aapka kya prrograamme ( 🙂 ) hai
Premnath with his aide Anwar Hussain makes a ‘smart’ move and reach Bharat Bhushan’s place to get hold of the ‘red diary’ and later shots Bharat Bhushan, so that he does not disclose the names and other details that he must have memorized from the ‘diary’.
He also injured Kamini Kaushal who loses her sight (to regain it at the end of the film) and before leaving they set the house on fire.
At the ‘villain’s den’ Elder of the two children succeeds in running away from the ‘gang members’ injuring –Dev Kumar (one of them).
He grows into Sunil (Sunil Dutt) and becomes a CID Officer under SP-Khan Sahab (Trilok Kapoor).Meanwhile, Premnath instructed his accomplices to shoot both children. Karim (Tiwari) who receives the order on the phone has a change of heart and also this child clings onto his legs (our dear baby) starts crying while the soft-hearted Tiwari (Karim) assures him ‘haan bete tujhe Daddy milega, zaroor milega, zaroor milega,
Aaj se main tera Daddy! This boy is our Master Bitttoo who grows up into Vinod Khanna and becomes a ‘chor.’
On the other side Police arrests Om Prakash in doubt of helping the ‘smugglers’ in kidnapping of the Inspector’s children.
Nobody heeds to his requests as some money is also recovered from his home.‘Insaan paise ke liye kitna gir sakta hai’
And finally, this poor guy could not prove his innocence and is sent to jail – ‘das saal qaid-e-ba-mashakkat’…
So, from here the film takes-off …
‘Two brothers getting separated, a father and a daughter getting separated, a mother loses her sight’ – all lost here – How they find each other is the story!!
“Nehle Pe Dehlaa-1976” has five songs.
Sr.no | Song Title | Singer/s | Posted On |
---|---|---|---|
01 | Main choron ki raani hoon | Asha Bhonsle | 31.05.2016 |
02 | Saawan ka mahina aa gaya | Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar | 23.08.2012 |
03 | Sun le tu binti meri Haaji Ali | Aziz Nazaan, chorus | |
04 | Logon ki zubaan par apna naam hai pehla | Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey | |
05 | Maashooq apne shabaab mein | Lata Mangeshkar |
Four songs were penned by Anand Bakshi and one by Farooq Qaisar (qawwali). Music was composed by R.D. Burman.
Qawwaali is sung by Aziz Nazaan who also composed it (as per HFGK).
Aziz Nazaan, Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Manna Dey gave their voices to the songs.
Mukesh’s name is also there in the singers list of the films, however so far as I am aware there is no Mukesh song in this film and his voice is not there in any of the released songs of this film.
I think only two songs from this movie were mostly liked and heard were ‘saawan ka mahina aa gaya’ (which is there in my list of ‘favorite songs of the seventies’) and the other one was title song i.e., ‘logon ki zubaan pe apna naam hai pehla’.
None of the songs from this film make it to the ‘annual list’ of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of that year.
Two songs from this film have been posted earlier on the blog as mentioned in the above table of ‘list of songs’ from this movie.
Today’s song is sung by Aziz Nazaan who is also the composer of this song. Lyrics are by Farooque Kaiser.
I am unable to identify the actor lip-syncing the song on the screen. Also seen in the picturization of this song are Vinod Khanna, Kamini Kaushal and Sunil Dutt and others.
(It seems that the shooting of this song was done at the shrine of Haaji Ali in Mumbai).
Let us now enjoy today’s song …

Hullo Atuldom
Films with “Ek” in their title that are present on the blog:- 66 and in that list I found some titles have been repeated too like “Ek Gaon Ki Kahaani”; “Ek Hi Rasta” (3 times); amazing.
“Ek Se Badkar Ek” (1976) is one of the 66 on the blog. It was a movie produced & directed by Brij. It had Kalyanji-Anandji as music directors of songs written by Verma Malik. Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi., Lata Mangeshkar and Runa Laila (from Bangladesh) were the playback singers used. The multi-starrer had Ashok Kumar, Raj Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Navin Nischol, Anwar Hussain, Padma Khanna, Helen, David, Deven Verma, Purnima, Shetty etc in the cast.
Today I found a trivia about how Deven Verma was present in many movies made by Brij- Brij was the director of Deven Verma’s first production “Yakeen” and that association continued in films like “Chori Mera Kaam”, “Bombay 405 Miles” etc.
Most of the films made by Brij had Ashok Kumar and Anwar Hussain, with Ashok Kumar in all kinds of hair-do and Anwar Hussain being the Cigar-smoking White-suited gang=leader always after precious stones, and moorti (idols). All the heroes in Brij’s films were incidental and heroines eye-candy. There will be at least one song where the hero will be in disguise. Then there will be a song filmed on Ashok Kumar which will be mostly sung by Kishore Kumar. Let me make it clear here, that I am speaking of films made in the 1970s/80s and not the ones before that, I have not seen many of them. All-in-all, films made by Brij were entertainers.
We shall have a song from “Ek Se Badkar Ek” today where we have the romantic lead dancing a Bhangra, possibly at a youth festival. It is obvious that Navin Nischol is not comfortable dancing, and Sharmila Tagore is too slim in front of him. This song is in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. This is the third song from the film to appear on the blog. I am sure many of the followers of this blog will recall today’s song which used to be played regularly on the radio.
With this we will be Wishing the pretty lady -Sharmila Tagore- on her birthday. She is one actress who proved that she was much sought after actress, who could be cast in any type of role, even after marriage and motherhood. She is the ideal inspiration and support for her actress daughter and daughter-in-law.
