Ek baar zara phir kah do

I have spoken about Vishwajeet being a poor man’s Shammi Kapoor, with Vishwajeet playing similar kinds of roles with similar kinds of music.
But Vishwajeet had more to him than just playing Shammi Kapoor kind of roles. He also played lead roles in suspense movies/ romantic movies which had a different kind of music- soft, melodious, soothing, sensuous kind of music.
Such music was usually composed by Hemant Kumar and when one looks at a list of these songs in Vishwajeet movies, one finds that the list of truly immortal songs from his movies reads like a whos who of the very best songs of its genre of soft sensuous, romantic songs.
In fact, I once read somewhere that actors like Vishwajeet, Pradeep Kumar etc often got more outstanding songs than many bigger and better stars of that era just because they happen to act in movies with Hemant Kumar’s music.
This is certainly true for Vishwajeet in this movie called “Bin Baadal Barsaat”(1963). I have already posted two superb sensuous songs from this movie sung by Hemant Kumar himself. Here is the third such song. This is a duet where Lata joins in.
and the result ? Many people call it the best song of its genre. I do not believe in such labels, but I musyt say that this song is as magical as a song can get. Extemely sensuous, extremely romantic. The singers have done a great job, and Shakeel Badayuni has shown throughout the songs of this movie how precisely and coherently he could capture the feelings of two people in love with each other.
This song was picturised on Vishwajeet and Asha Parekh. It is a magical song indeed.

Song-Ek baar zara phir kah do (Bin Baadal Barsaat) (1963) Singer-Hemant Kumar, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Hemant Kumar
Lyrics
Ek baar zara phir kah do
un hoon
Ek baar zara phir kah do
mujhe sharma ke tum deewaana
aisi meethi meethi baaten karke
aisi meethi meethi baaten karke
kahaan seekha hai dil ka lubhaana
o jaane jaan
Ek baar zara phir kah do
mujhe sharma ke tum deewaana
un hoon
dil lekar raho door huzoor na hamse
karo itna guroor na hamse
o sajna mera haar singaar tumhi ho
mera dam hai tumhaare hi dam se
tum shama ho to main hoon parwana
aisi meethi meethi baaten karke
kahaan seekha hai dil ka lubhaana
o jaane jaana
Ek baar zara phir kah do
mujhe sharma ke tum deewaana
un hoon
socha ho to main tod ke laa doon sitaare
ke ho tum mujhe jaan se pyaare
kya maangoon jab mil gaye tum mujhe sajna
main to aa gayi bas me tumhaare
mera dil hai tumhaara nazraana
aisi meethi meethi baaten karke
kahaan seekha hai dil ka lubhaana
Ek baar zara phir kah do
mujhe sharma ke tum deewaana
kaho na
deewaanaa
phir kaho
deeaanaa
phir kaho
dee-waa-na

Atulji , before giving the lyrics of the song , you have not mentioned Lataji’s name in ‘Singer’ column . Though you mentioned her name in your ‘ introductory discussion ‘ .of the song .

Very famous Bengali duet ” Ei Path Jodi Na Sesh Hoy ‘ ( If This Path does not finish ) sung by Hemanta Mukherjee and Sandhya Mukherjee ( she learnt music from Bade Ghulam Ali Khan ) from Bengali film Saptapadi , on the same tune , was composed by Hemantda . The song was a bike song picturized on famous duo of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen in a rural ambience .
