“Ek Nazar” (1972) was an eminently forgettable movie and it was duly forgotten. Few people today remember that this movie had Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles.
I was not aware that this movie had some nice songs. Recently I came to know that the song “patta patta boota boota” was from this movie and I have already posted this song.
Now I have come to know that the song “pahle sau baar idhar aur udhar dekha hai” is also from the same movie. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal have composed this song. Lata is the singer.
This song is a “mujra” song and it is picturised on Jaya Bhaduri. This mus be the only time in her career when she played a tawaif, and that must have been one of the reasons behind the failure of this movie.
The song itself is such a nice song to listen to. It is unfortunate that this song was forgotten thanks to the failure of this movie. This song certainly deserves to be known better.
