Ye na thi hamaari qismat

Mirza Ghalib was a legendary Urdu poet who was born in 1800s. Many of his poems have been sung by a host of singers.
His poem “ye na thi hamari qismat” ( it was not in my destiny) has been sung by many singers. The first time it was sung was perhaps in the movie “Mirza Ghalib” (1954). There it was sung by Suraiyya.
Here is this nice song from “Mirza Ghalib”. Ghulam Mohammad was the music director of this song.

There are too many nice songs lying forgotten. I am stumbling upon such songs almost on a daily basis, Though I post several songs a day, still there are many more songs that I have not yet been able to post.

these lyrics show why ghalib was so great!
so much is said in so few words!
Atul, you are posting so many nice songs that I can just about keep up with watching some of them, let alone comment.
But your library of beautiful indian music is much appreciated and the work you put in with the lyrics.
