He neele gagan ke tale

Posted on: May 13, 2009

“Hamraaz” (1968) was a musical blockbuster. The songs of this movie were hugely popular among all age groups of people.

Here is a popular song from this movie. Sung by Mahendra Kapoor and picturised on Sunil Dutt and Vimmi, this song was written by Sahir Ludhianvi and music was composed by Ravi.

As can be noticed, Mahendra Kapoor, Sahir Ludhianvi and Ravi were at the peek of their respecive prowesses at that time, and that resulted in this gem of a song.

Song- He neele gagan ke tale (Hamraaz) (1968) Singer-Mahenda Kapoor, Lyrics- Sahir Ludhianvi, MD- Ravi

he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale
he neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale
aise hi jag mein, aati hain subahen
aise hi shaam dhale
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale

shabnam ke moti, phoolon pe bikhre
donon ki aas phale
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale

balkhaati belen, masti mein khelen
pedon se milke gale
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale

nadiyaa kaa paani, dariyaa se milke
saagar ki or chale
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale
aise hi jag mein, aatii hain subahen
aise hi shaam dhale
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale
aaa aaa
he, neele gagan ke tale, dharti kaa pyaar pale
he, laralalala

Yes, I remember being crazy over this song. And, Atul, the guy in this scene used to be my heart throb – Raaj Kumar, not sunil dutt!

Thanks for a lovely song, Atul!

There were so many nice songs in this movie, and they were all crammed in at the beginning of the movie.

This is just a gorgeous song…and nobody could have sung it like Mahendra, I think 🙂

Mahendra Kapoor regarded Rafi as his teacher (guru) and he actually (symbolically) became a disciple of Rafi.

The songs in this movie were rather good, I agree. But it was strange that the leading lady was killed off halfway thru the movie. There and then, the movie turned from an emotional trauma of a bharatiya nari to a murder mystery. There was another leading lady waiting in the wings – played by Mumtaz – whose role actually got further curtailed as the whodunit unraveled. Wonder how this film did at the box office.
