Joy Mukherji, Debu Mukherji and Somu Mukherji were brothers and they were from a well connected family. Their father was Shashdhar Mukherji, a big name in Bollywood movie making. Their uncle (chacha) was Subodh Mukherji, the well known movie producer. From their mother’s side, they were connected to Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar, who were their mamas.
Now, Joy Mukherji never needed his mama (maternal uncle) Kishore Kumar to sing for him. Most of his playback singing was done by Rafi. His younger brother Debu Mukherji was not as successful in his acting career. His movies were few and far between and they were normally not successful. Not that he spared any effort.
Take this movie “Ek Baar Muskuraa Do” (1972). It had top class music by O P Nayyar. After his hey days in 1950s, O P Nayyar sounds as his absolute best in this movie. And then there was Kishore Kumar,the reigning king among male playback singers, who gave his best in this movie.
Just listen to this song. What an amazingly energetic song this one is. Certainly one of the most energetic sad songs one can come across.

Incidentally, in this song, Deb Mukherji sings about the “bewafaai” of Tanuja. Tanuja incidentally was the wife of his brother Shomu Mukherji. I am uncomfortable when such real life persons play roles of romantic angle.
The song itself is just out of this world, of course.

thank you very much for uploading the vdo of the duet version here. i had heard it long time back on Vividh Bharati. actually faryaal’s dance moves reminds of Bindu’s “Neena meena anju manju” from “Kati patang”.

He is Oscar Unger (2 photos ), n song of Asha ji on Faryal, (not Tanuja) and Deb Muckerjee. this is 2nd song sung by Asha Ji,. PART-2. Song: Tu Auron Ki Kyun Ho Gayee [Part 2] HINDI Movie : Ek Baar Muskura Do (1972) . O.P.Nayyar’s favourite Rafi was not available.. so Kishore.

While filming Ek Baar Muskura Do, Tanuja was not yet married into the Mukherjee family, but shortly afterward she became Deb Mukherjee’s sister‑in‑law

Atul Ji, I guess there are 2 versions of this song. One, the solo by Kishore, and then there is a duet with Asha. So this is a multiple version song.
