There are many great songs that end up being forgotten after its initial run. In may cases, these songs fail to eve take off.
One of the main reasons why some great songs suffer this fate is that these songs belong to forgettable movies. Movies boasting of even big names can fail, and that takes its toll on the songs of that movie. In case the movie has no big names, then the chances of the movie flopping increases much more, and that takes its songs down with it as well.
A classic example of the above observation is “Khoj” (1971). The music of this movie should have become big hits, if only they were picturised on established names. Instead, this movie had names like Deepak Kumar and Dheeraj Kumar playing heroes.
The two budding Kumars sing a party song in this movie. And the song is sung by singers of the stature of Rafi and Kishore Kumar. And they have sung superbly. Usha Khanna’s music is pleasant to the ears and the new lyricist Mahendra Dehalvi has come up with a great song.
This is a nice song to listen to, but unfortunately very few music lovers may have been fortunate enough to have listened to this song. I hope that this post of mine will bring this song to the notice of music lovers and they will savour this song as much as I have done.

Wow…this certainly is a pleasant song to listen to. I have never heard it. For that matter, I did not know that there was a movie called Khoj.
I can see why it failed, although a pleasant song, the actors haven’t portrayed it well enough to be noticed.

nice song from our growing up years but never heard it before today!!!! & who is this Deepak Kumar!!! yeh kya movie hai? and there is a khoj in the 80s or 90s (starring Rishi Kapoor i think) which also sank without a trace!!!!
