Introduction songs were quite frequent in Bollywood movies till 1970s. Later on, they become less frequent.
These introduction songs often become very popular. who can forget “aawaara hoon” (Awaaraa), “chhaliya mera naam (chhaliya), “main hoon jhum jhum jhum jhum jhumroo” (Jhumroo), “Rampur ka waasi hoon main Laxman mera naam (Rampur ka Laxman) etc.
Here is one of the most well known introduction songs of all time. this song is from “Don” (1978). This is such an outstanding introduction song. It is an introduction song, theme song, title song, party song, villain’s den song- all rolled into one.
This song is written by Anjaan and its music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. Kishore Kumar sang this song and this song is picturised on Amitabh Bachchan. Some very well known ( and by now legendary) baddies and villain’s molls can be seen in this picturisation. It is a wonderful song of its genre.
