Blog Day : 3970 Post No. : 15054

Peevesie’s mom is one blog regular who keeps in touch with me on phone almost on a regular basis. Nearly one month ago, she phoned to enquire whether my daughter was at Mumbai seeing that summer vacations had started in Mumbai colleges. So I informed her that my daughter, and also my wife, were on their way to join me for their respective vacations.

So it came as no surprise to Peevesie’s mom when my posts during the last month were reduced to a trickle.

Day before yesterday, Peevesie’s mom phoned me informing me that she had sent a late article in the evening and whether I would be able to post it. I informed her that I was on the job. She enquired why I was not posting my articles in the blog. I was posting guest articles all right but she was interested about my “man ki baat”” kind of articles. I informed her that my wife was still around and I would be able to post by “well” researched article only after I am away from the watchful eyes of my wife, which would be from the afternoon of 1 june 2019. 🙂

Then the talk veered to the TV programme that I was watching. She asked whether I was watching the world cup cricket match or the swearing in ceremony of Indian ministers. I informed her that I was watching the later, viz the swearing in ceremony.

We agreed that Indians were busy for the last one month and a half in General elections and now they would get busy following cricket world cup for the next one month and a half. Peevesie’s mom is not aware that I would stay busy after the cricket world cup as well, seeing that Premier Kabaddi League would start immediately after cricket world cup.

My wife stayed with me for nearly one month and she is leaving in the afternoon. So the excuse of there being no time for blogging will no longer be there for me. 🙂

There are lots of topics that I would have loved to discuss but I could not find time. I can even hold forth on a subject like “JCK ki khudaai” if I can find time and I apply my mind to it. 🙂 Yesterday, I was actually invited to watch “JCB ki khudaai” inside my workplace. 🙂

Right now, I was trying to post one article a day. Hopefully I will be in a position to be able to post several articles a day which used to happen so regularly in the past. I could try to turn the clock back a decade, when there used to be six or seven songs a day everyday. 🙂

“Badalte Rishte”(1978) was directed by R Jhalani for Vijayshree pictures Bombay. The movie had Jeetendra, Rishi Kapoor, Reena Roy, Asrani, A K Hangal, Pinchoo Kapoor, Shubha Khote, Urmila Bhatt, Deena pathak, Master Raju, Omkar, Madan Joshi, Pardesi, Raja Duggal, Makhan Singh, Chandar Dhaani, Chandra Prabha, etc in it, with new discoveries Shashi Bala Saxena and Rachna Bhatt.

The movie had five songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the past.

This song, the third song from the movie, is sung by Kishore Kumar and Suman Kalyanpur. Anjaan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

This “naa naa followed by haan haan” kind of “iqraar” song is picturised on Rishi Kapoor and Reena Roy.

This movie is from 1978, a year when I becan to watch movies with a vengeance. But I did not watch this movie and I was not aware of this song. So this song is a “new”song for me and I haerd this song for the first time today, more than four decades after this song was created.

Song-Tum chaahe hamko pasand na karo (Badalte Rishte)(1978) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

tum chaahe humko pasand na karo
par tum humko pasand ho
pasand ho
par tum humko pasand ho
chhaliya jo sau sau roop badle ae ae
wo humen kaise pasand ho
pasand ho
wo humen kaise pasand ho

chhaanv jaise baadal ki
dhoop jaise saawan ki
waise na jaane kis pal tum badlo
baat jaise sapne ki
rang jaise mausam ka
waise na jaane kis pal
tum badlo

deewaane ko kyun tadpaana
tum jo humen dil se pasand kar lo
apni to kismat buland ho
buland ho
apni to kismat buland ho
chhaliya jo sau sau roop badle ae ae
wo humen kaise pasand ho
pasand ho
wo humen kaise pasand ho

bin soche dil kho ke
pyaar mein paagal hoke
tum in bahaaron mein kabhi ee khoyi nahin
ye bahaaren bolengi
bhed dil ke kholengi
dil mein tumhaare siva to koi nahin
laakh manaaya dil na maana
hum kaise tumko pasand na karen
jab tum dil ko pasand ho
pasand ho
haan tum dil ko pasand ho
haan tum humko pasand ho
pasand ho
haan tum humko pasand ho

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 33
——————————————————————————————

30th May – ten years ago. The steady pace of six songs per day is quite natural, and consistent. The six movies that were represented that day are

  • Chaandni Chowk             1954
  • Aas Ka Panchhi               1961
  • Aadhi Raat Ke Baad         1965
  • Zanjeer                          1973
  • Hamshakal                      1974
  • Bhola Bhaalaa                 1978

The first four films on this list above are already fully represented on our blog. The reprisal song for today is from the 1978 film ‘Bhola Bhaala’. This film is directed by Satpal, under the banner of Venkteshewara Pictures, Bombay. The cast of actors is listed as Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Maushumi Chatterjee, Joginder, Satyen Kappu, Sulochana, Pinchoo Kapoor, V Gopal, Sudhir Thakkar, Jankidas, Rajkumar, Devraj, Master Chiku, Shakti, Ashu, Deven Verma, Jagdeep, Sudhir, Ratnamala, Raj Mehra, and Aruna Irani.

The six songs in this film are all penned by Anand Bakshi. Music direction is by RD Burman. This is the third song of this film to appear on our blog.

On screen, this song is lip synced by Rajesh Khanna, disguised as a sanyaasi. Rekha also appears in this song, as the main dancer attraction. She is also wearing saffron clothes, but she is not lip syncing. Apparently, a certain rich man is making an offering of a costly chhatr (‘छत्र’), as he has been blessed with a son after a very long wait.

This song seems to be a song of deception, to steal that costly offering. I have not seen this film, and so I request other knowledgeable readers to please add more information about this film and this song situation.

Hullo to all Atulwaale

‘Daaku Aur Jawaan’ was a 1978 release. It was directed by Sunil Dutt and starred Reena Roy, Leena Chandavarkar, Bindu, Sunil Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Ranjeet, Om Prakash, Anwar Hussain, Kanhaiyalal, Asrani, Padma Khanna, Tun Tun, Sundar etc. Its music composers were Laxmikant  Pyarelal and Anand Bakshi was the lyricist.

This is the story of the movie as given on Wikipedia-

Birju (Sunil Dutt) and Ramu (Vinod Khanna) are brothers and have a friendly bond with each other, They do a lot of pranks with the villagers, but the pressure of the landlord {Anwar Hussain) and the urban bad guy Bhairon Singh (Ranjeet) leads villagers to pay a fee for their lands to work on them. This leads Ramu to join the army as a Jawaan (Soldier). Bhairon Singh, with the help of Thakurain (Bindu) plans to frame Birju as a criminal on the night of Janamashtmi. Bhairon Singh brutally rapes Ganga (Reena Roy) and steals the entire wealth from the safe of her father. After getting raped by Bhairon Singh, Ganga commits suicide by jumping into the well. Bhairon Singh frames Birju for the rape and murder of Ganga and stealing the money. Birju is arrested by the police, but escapes and takes a pledge on Ganga’s funeral pyre that he will take revenge of her death and he turns into a Daaku (Dacoit). Ramu, in the war, is fighting against enemies, but gets back to his village after losing one leg. After a lot of turns and twists, Seeta (Leena Chandavarkar) finally reveals the truth that Bhairon Singh had raped Ganga and he has stolen all the wealth from her house with the help of Thakurain. When Birju comes to know about it, he beats Bhairon Singh in front of all the villagers and finally kills him by throwing him into the well where Ganga committed suicide. Now, Thakurain tries to kill Ramu, but Birju takes the bullet in his chest saving Ramu in the process. Thakurain is arrested by the police. Birju, finally breathing his last, requests Ramu to read the letter which was written by him. After listening to the letter from Ramu, Birju dies reuniting with Ganga in Heaven. In the end, Ramu marries Seeta and they lived happily ever after.

So that then seems to be a very normal Hindi film story where any reason is good enough for the hero to turn a ‘daaku‘. And I must say Sunil Dutt would have made an imposing daaku remembering him from all the daaku roles he had played starting from ‘Mother India’ (1957), – his first role as a daaku. Incidentally, in that films also, his role name is Birju. And to have Vinod Khanna play his brother would have been “a sight to soothe sore eyes”. Another of his earlier films in which he plays the role of daaku is ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’ in 1963.

Today on the death anniversaries of Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar (its 21 years today since his passing away) and Sunil Dutt (14 years today) let us have a song from this 1978 movie which will give us an idea of their talents at the height of their careers.

Also, with this post, the film ‘Daaku Aur Jawaan’ makes its debut on our blog.

“Dil Aur Deewaar” (1978) was directed by K Bapaiyya for Vijaya and Suresh Combines, Madras. The movie had Jeetendra, Mausami Chatterji, Rakesh Roshan, Sarika, Ashok Kumar, Prem Chopra, Vijay Arora, Jagdeep, Roopesh Kumar, Madhu Malini, Nirupa Roy, Kamini Kaushal, Rajan Haksar, Pichoo Kapoor, Jagdish Raj etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. One song from the movie has been covered in the past.

I remember having watched the trailer of this movie while watching another movie in a movie hall. The trailer played the theme song of the movie. That theme song has been covered in the past one year ago.

Here is the second song from “Dil Aur Deewaar” (1978) to appear in the song. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Only the audio of the song seems to be available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the song. It seems certain that the song was lip synced by Jeetendra.

Song-Mujhse poochhen mere meet (Dil Aur Deewaar)(1978) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

mujhse poochhen mere meet
geet kaise bante hain
kya hai bhed
kya hai reet
geet kaise bante hain
mujhse poochhen mere meet

paagal hote hain kuchh log
jinko lagta hai ye rog
paagal hote hain kuchh log
baithhe aahe bharte hain
kaaghaz kaale karte hain
dil mein aati hai jo baat
likhte jaate hain din raat
uspe un deewaanon ko
kisi se ho jaati hai preet
geet aise bante hain
mujhse poochhen mere meet
mujhse poochhen mere meet

geeton ke hain roop anek
unmein se ye roop hai ek
geeton ke hain roop anek
unmein se ye roop hai ek
gori ke matvaare nain
le jaate hain man ka chain
gauri ki matvaari chaal
ban jaati hai sur aur taal
gori ke do meethhe bol
ban jaate hain man sangeet
geet aise bante hain
mujhse poochhen mere meet
geet kaise bante hain
kya hai bhed
kya hai reet
geet kaise bante hain
mujhse poochhen mere meet

Hullo to all in Atuldom

So, there is this thing called the 10-year challenge going-on on Facebook, at least I saw a few of my friend’s post “Then and Now” pictures. Atulji also has started something similar on the blog with this post “Inteha Ho Gai Intezaar Ki“. I found this more inspiring to participate in and I was thinking of how my association with this blog began exactly 10 years ago when my daughter stumbled on to this blog (I know I have mentioned this a number of times, sorry for repeating). Then she saw that Atulji is kind enough to post songs requested by readers (followers) – there is a dedicated ‘farmaishes’ page on the blog.

As I sat to write on my 10-year journey with the blog I thought of the first date I landed on this treasure house of lyrics and videos. I don’t remember the exact date, it must be either the 13th or 14th March as it was on 15-3-2019 Peevesie’s first farmaish got posted; a song from the Dev Anand-Nutan starrer ‘Manzil’ (1960).

From then on whenever my daughter browsed the site, I would be sitting next to her. That was the period when we had only one computer in the family and each one was allotted a fixed time slot on the internet and if there was some incoming call, we used to lose net-connectivity as ours was still the dial-up connection. It was a few years later that we switched to broadband. And the switch to broadband also was needed when the kids (who were students then) needed their own lap-tops. Times have changed and I am the only broadband user and everyone has data connect on their mobiles to which they hook their laptops most often.

Oh, I am deviating from my 10-year story.

Then on 19th March I was with Peevesie when she posted a comment to this song “Jaaneman Tum Kamaal Karti Ho” . This was followed by a comment for “Dil Aaj Shaayar Hai. . .“. Oh, we have been ustaads at commenting because the next day I visited the blog and commented on “Logon Ka Dil Agar Jeetna Tumko Hai To“. And Peevesie’s Mom was born.

From then on, I learnt how to navigate the blog, comment on it and post farmaishes. And took on Atulji’s encouragement “Nice to have your say on this song. Please offer your comments regularly as they help me to come up with songs that I may not otherwise be aware of.” And have stayed on since then.

First time I commented from my own id was for the song “Phir Tumhaari Yaad Aai Hai Sanam“. For this song Atulji’s write-up was short and crisp, his only objective being sharing his priceless discovery, that song is indeed a gem. This post also has our Rajaji in a different avatar, don’t know why he didn’t continue. (Rajaji please answer)

My first song as a contributor – first with lyrics and then with posts- came much later. I don’t remember when I started using this “Hullo to all Atulites” but I somehow liked the idea of addressing the followers of the blog. I also don’t remember which was the first song I sent to celebrate a celebrity’s birthday. But continuing that habit here is one more.
[Editor’s Note: It was “Mere Yaar Ko Mere Allah, De Ek Chaand Sa Pyaara Lalla“, on 25th September, 2012.]

But as is the norm set by Atulji in his first post of this series on ’10-year challenge’ here is a list of songs that were posted on 18th March 2009.

Na Jaane Kahaan Tum The
Rehte The Kabhi Jinke Dil Me
Phul Gendwa Na Maaro
Jaa Jaa Jaa Mere Bachpan
Aati Rahengi Bahaarein
Jalta Hai Jiya Mera
Jee Chaahe Jee Chaahe

As I revisited these posts, I see that all the posts were short and crisp with a punchline that brought a smile to the lips. These punchlines were termed ATULISM by Rajaji.

Sample this from the simple post that accompanied the song “Aati Rahengi Bahaarein” from ‘Kasme Vaade’-

Here Amitabh Bachchan, a college professor lives in a palatial residence in such opulence that would give the Nizam of Hyderabad a complex. And only three people live in this palace and one cannot see a single domestic help anywhere. 🙂

Coming back to the purpose of this post – to remember Shashi Kapoor on his 81st birthday. Its already more than a full calendar year since he passed away; time has really flown. I had written down the story synopsis for the accompanying song a long time ago. I had wanted to send this post in 2013 when Shashi would have turned 76.

‘Atithee’ is a 1978 Shashi Kapoor- Shabana Azmi- Shatrughan Sinha- Vidya Sinha movie which I suppose didn’t do very well at the box office. Not much is there on the net other than the synopsis which IMDB.com gives. And I quote

Navendhu Kumar lives a poor lifestyle with his handicapped father, Mohan, housewife mom, two unmarried sisters, Leela and Rajni, a younger brother, Kundan, and a sweetheart in Meena. He works for Avinash Gupta, however, when differences occur, he is framed by Gupta for breaking and entering, arrested by the police, tried in court, and exiled from the town for a period of 12 months. After he leaves, the family is almost destitute and is exploited by Gupta. Then some months later, a young man, Anand, comes to visit them, informing them that Navendhu has sent him. He gives them some money for day to day expenses, gets some clothes for everyone, and a wheelchair for Mohan. He arranges the marriage of Rajni with her boyfriend, Ajay, despite strong opposition from Gupta, and falls in love with Leela. What the Kumar family does not know is that Anand is a fugitive on the run from the police in Bombay, and he harbors a dark secret that will change their lives forever.

To this, I had added,

Actually, what put me on this movie is the song which was posted on ASAD on 15th May 2013. In comments to that song from ‘Manoranjan’ (1974) I had mentioned about a Shashi Kapoor song that uses ‘Goya’ ‘Chunke’ ‘Kintu’ ‘Parantu’ etc and Harveypam(ji) said he only faintly remembered it. Then I sat and searched for the song and decided that it is going to be posted on March 18th that is Shashi Kapoor’s birthday. Today is his 76th birthday.

The song is written by Verma Malik, music is by Kalyanji Anandji and the singing voice is Kishore Kumar. In the song we see Shashi Kapoor playing a kind of love guru to Gayatri and her boyfriend (cannot identify him) a nice fun song so lets enjoy.

And be reminded of the cute charming smile of Shashi Kapoor. 🙂

arey aur bhi main samjhata yahin
kuch aur bhi main batlata yahin
haalan ke lekin magar goya choon ke chunache kintu parantu
kya karoon time nahin
kya karoon mujhko time nahin

arey bhai ek aur kahani yaad aa gayi
ha ha ha ha haa
ek aur kahani yaad aayi
da da daan
da da daan da
da dada daan da daada
ek choti si kahani thi
hmm mmm
ek raja ek rani thi
hmm mmm
ek choti si kahani thi
ek raja ek rani thi
rani ki jo naani thi
aankh se woh kaani thi
aankh se jo kaani thi
rani ki wo naani thi
kaani thi naani thi
rani ki wo naani thi
naani naani naani
kaani kaani kaani
naani kaani naani kaani thi
arrey kuch bhi thi to kya hua
magar din raat yahi kehti thi
kehti thi wo ek hi baat
pyar me rahkna
haathon me haath
haan haan haathon me haath

arey mari paanch bajne me saat
mar gaya mera baap

arey aur bhi main samjhaata yahin
arey aur bhi main samjhaata yahin
kuch aur bhi main batlaata yahin
haalan ke lekin magar goya choon ke chunache kintu parantu
parantu
parantu
kya karoon time nahin
kya karoon mujhko time nahin

arey
arey ye dono premi kahaan chale gaye

Discussion on economics-3
——————————————————————–
Today is 26 january 2019, a red letter day in the history of Modern India. We all know that India gained independence on 15 august 1947, but what kind of nation we were going to be was not yet decided on that day. It took another two years and five months (896 days to be precise) for the nation to define itself as a Republic where every citizen, irrespective of his background was assured of equality.

Many nations have been formed over the centuries, but it was for a first time that a newly independent nation declared that all its citizens were going to have equal rights. If one looks at the history of USA, we find that that USA was formed on 4 july 1776, but equal rights for all citizens of USA were given much later. In early years of USA, only white males were allowed to vote. Blacks males were allowed to vote more than 100 years later. Females of all races were allowed to vote only from 1920. Seen that way, the constitution of India was, in many way a remarkable achievement for a newly independent nation, a nation so vast in area and population that many “experts” considered int ungovernable and one that was liable to break into pieces.

The constitution of India has served as a very powerful glue to hold this vast nation together. With passage of time, this glue has become more powerful than fevicol. 🙂

A major reason why the country became united and stayed united was the inclusive nature of the constitution where everyone was given six fundamental rights namely:-

Right to equality.
Cultural and Educational Rights.
Right to freedom.
Right against exploitation.
Right to freedom of religion, and.
Right to constitutional remedies.

The above fundamental rights is the magic glue that has kept the nation united. The above rights are exhaustive and all encompassing. We need not look very far. We only only have to look around our neighbourhood to find that many of these rights are not available to citizens in our neighboring countries.

The above fundamental rights basically gives respect and dignity and opportunities to all citizens. Many of these are rights that were not available to our forefathers.

India was an underdeveloped nation at the time of independence. Lots and lots of industrial activities were started which involved creating steel plants, dams, educational institutions, research centers etc. These were set up at places that were till then remote locations. People from all over the country got employment in these newly opened installations.

Movement of these people was largely by trains. So these trains were also a big unifier for the nation.

When people from various backgrounds met and interacted with each other, they got to learn about the language and culture of the place they had moved to.

While interacting with each other, it turned out that they could find some topics of mutual interest. One was Hindi movies and music, and other was Cricket. Hindi movies and music, and also cricket have been great unifiers for Indians.

With so many powerful glues to hold us together, and with gradual prosperity of the nation, Indians of today are far more proud and upbeat about India than they were a few generations ago. I find that I have personally become a nationalist (not a jingoist) and I am quite upbeat about the future of the country.

Here are some of the great things that are happening in India and are going to happen in future:-

1. GDP-When India became independent, it was one of the poorest nations on the face of the earth. This state of affairs continues till 1991, when the economic policy of the nation was finally given a thorough overhaul and the economy was liberalised. In a matter of a little over two decades, India gatecrashed into the list of top 10 economies of the world. Today, India is a member of G-20 group of nations which is a group of top 20 economies in the world. In reality, India should be a member of G-8 as well, seeing that Indian economy is very much in top 8 in the world. When the new figures of GDP are released a few months later, India would find itself as the fifth largest economy in the world, displacing our erstwhile master the Great Britain, who will slip to seventh position behin France. And India will leave these countries behind permanently. New target for India would be to overtake Germany and Japan, and that would be achieved in another one decade, may be less.

2. Steel is to an economy what the skeleton is to a body. An economy cannot be built without steel. There was a time, till 1907, when no steel was produced in India. It was in 1907 that the first steel factory was built by Jamshedji Tata in a place that is now called Jamshedpur. When Tata gave a proposal in 1907 to GIP Railways that they wanted to supply rail for Railway, the then Commissioner of Railway Safety, GIP Railway, Sir Frederick Upcott remarked that he would eat each pound of Railway if this upstart was able to produce that. Much later, British Steel, a steel company was taken over by a Dutch company to form Corus steel, and this Corus Steel was bought by Tata steel in 2007, exactly 100 years after the arrogant remark of a British. Today, India is world’s second largest steel producer behind China, and Britain is no where. Two Indian owned companies (Arcelor Mittal and Tata) are world’s number one and number three steel making companies in order of size of outturn of steel.

3, Soft power-India is a country that produced the largest number of movies in the world. They have fair share of film market in the world but not as much as it could be. But now it seems that India has started to produce movies that are truly world class and they are being appreciated for that. Example- Bahubali pt 2, Dangal.

4. Power of Indian market– Indian market is worth more than $1 trillion and it will become a $4 trillions market within a few years. With reforms such as GST, this is one single market that no one in the world can ignore. So India and its consumers can command high quality products at competitive prices. For example, Chinese companies which have no clue what Cricket and Kabaddi are, are the title sponsors of Indian Premier League and Professional Kabaddi League because they want to enter Indian market riding on the popularity of games that Indians love.

Some naysayers among us (there are quite a few) may tell us that we are nowhere in the world on per capita basis. That is true, but compared to where we were one decade back, India has made tremendous progress.

5. GDP per capita– The GDP per capita today works up to $2000 which is no big deal seeing that the GDP per capita in advanced economies are 20 times or more. Indeed that is the case, but that is because keeping Indians Gareeb has been a stated policy of some parties in India. That is why Indian per capita income remained under $ 400 till two decade ago and under $ 1000 till one decade ago . So India was in the list of Low Income countries till one decade ago. Thanks to opeing up of economy in 1991, the per capita income had grown up five times in last two decades, while it had doubled in last one decade. Now India is in Low Middle Income Group ($ 1025 to $ 4035 per capita group). Next target is graduating to Middle Income group ( $ 4035 to $12475 per capita) group.

6. Future growth of economy– Per capita income above $ 12475 makes a country a high income group country. So Indian per capita income needs to grow six times before India can become a high income country. That can be achieved if Indian resources- both natural as well as human, are upgraded in a big way. In simple terms, it means upgrading the infrastructure and reforming rules, taking unpopular and non populist decisions in the process if required. If India continues to grow at the existing annual growth rate of 7 % per annum then it will take between 25 to thirty years for India to become a high income country. If the growth rate is higher, then the target can be met in a shorter duration. For either case, a lot of input is required.

7. Quality related indices-A country that aspires to grow and join the list of advanced nations cannot do so unless they improve their quality. There are certain quality related indices that give an idea where a country stands. Some of these quality indices are:-
(i)Global Innovation index-India is ranked 57th in 2018- a steady improvement from its 81st position in 2015)
(ii)Global competitive index-India is ranked 58th in WEF’s global competitiveness index of 2018.
(iiiEase of doing business-India is in 77th position in latest ranking, it is a vast improvement from its rankings of 100 and 130 in the preceding years.
(iv)QS rating of top universities- IIT Bombay, the highest ranked Indian university has a world ranking of 162. In Asia, it is 34th, which shows that top Indian universities still need to improve a lot to catch up with advanced Asian economies viz Japan, China, South Kore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapor.e
(v)Credit rating- Though not as high as advanced economies, Indian credit rating is good enough to be investment grade, and so Indian business organisations are able to raise loan from foreign financial organisations.

8. India aims to be a $5 Trillions economy by 2023. 3 Trillions will come from service sector, one trillion from agriculture sector and one trillion from manufacturing sector. As far as manufacturing sector is concerned, I can visualise India becoming a big and respected exporter of Engineering goods.

All of the above are possible if Indians value their constitution and make the most of the provisions provided in the constitution. I am quite positive and bullish about the future prospects of India.

On this occasion, here is a rare song from “Subhash Chandra”(1978). ‘This movie was directed by Piyush Bose for A K B Films, Calcutta. The movie had Ashish Ghosh, Amar Dutt, Samar Kumar, Ajit Prakash, N.Vishwanathan, Lamsden, Bown, Smith, Reba Devi, Rama Das ec in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Two of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the third song from “Subhash Chandra”(1978) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Usha Mangeshkar and chorus. Saraswati Kumar Deepak is the lyricist. Music is composed by Aparesh Lahiri.

I take this opportunity to wish a happy republic day to all Indians wherever they are. I have no doubt that this republic day will mark the beginning of some great achievements and accomplishments for india in many fields.

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
———————————————————–
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 77 # Reena Roy’s Birth Anniversary #
———————————————————————————————————-

In my growing years, in the seventies, Hema Malini was the leading name among the actresses in the Hindi movies and she ruled the ‘screen’ in those years 1971-1980 and extended thereafter till 1986 if we can consider it.

During those years there were many other heroines on the Hindi Movie scene who lit up the screen with their presence and performances.

One of these names is ‘Reena Roy’, whose growth in her career coincided with the growth of people like me (those born in early seventies) in our lives. She made her debut in the 1972 movie ‘Zaroorat’. A year or more later in 1973 came her sizzling dance number ‘ab ke saawan mein jee darey’ in ‘Jaise Ko Taisa’ with actor Jeetendra’.

In 1975 one of her song from ‘Zakhmee’ ‘jalta hai jiya mera bheegi bheegi raaton mein’ with Rakesh Roshan also got some popularity.

Till 1976 she had acted in about twelve movies (as per her ‘filmography’ on ‘wiki’).

In 1976 there were six movies of her released viz. ‘Sangram’, ‘Gumraah’,’Barood’, ‘Naagin’, ‘Kaalicharan’ and ‘Udhar Ka Sindoor’.

With her role in ‘Naagin-1976’ she rose to the top and with the success of ‘Kaalicharan’ her pairing with Shatrughan Sinha became popular and both of them acted in many films thereafter.
She was nominated in the ‘best actress’ category for her role in ‘Naagin-1976’ which she lost to Rakhee in ‘Tapasya’. After ‘Nagin-1976’ she was nominated in the ‘best actress’ category for her role in the ‘1980 movie – Aasha’ which she lost again, this time to Rekha for her role in ‘Khoobsurat’.

In between she was declared winner of the ‘Filmfare’ award in the ‘best supporting actress’ category for her role in ‘Apnaapan -1977’ which she did not accepted citing the reason that the role in ‘Apnaapan’ was not a supporting role but was like a ‘lead role’.

For me, I would say that I liked her performances in all the movies that I have watched of her so far. I remember ‘Naagin-1976’, ‘Badalte Rishtey-1978’, ‘Jaani Dushman-1979’,’Yaari Dushmani-1979’,’Be-reham-1980’, then ‘Naseeb’, ‘Rocky’, ‘Dhanwan’, ‘Pyaasa Saawan’ – all of 1981.

After that as a grown-up boy I watched her in ‘Main Intaqaam Loonga’, ‘Dard Ka Rishta’, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ in 1982, and ‘Andhaa Kaanoon’. (In 1982 as many as fourteen of her movies were released (as per wikipedia)).

Then I watched her ‘Naukar Biwi Ka’ in 1983, ‘Raaj Tilak’, ‘Asha Jyoti’, in 1984 (I vaguely remember to have watched her ‘Intehaa-1984’ with Raj Babbar).
I watched ‘Baghaawat’ in 1985-86 and ‘Karmyogi-1978’ on video cassette around 1990 but do not remember it now.

‘Aasha-1980’ I watched on TV sometime around 1990-91 I think and ‘Kaalicharan-1976’ around 1999 on TV.
Well, I still have to watch many of her famous movies like ‘Arpan’, ‘Ghulami’, ‘Gautam Govinda’, ‘Jwaalamukhi’, ‘Vishwanath’ (I think I watched it in parts on some tv channel) and many others.

Today let us watch a song from the 1978 movie ‘Vishwanaath’ performed by Reena Roy on screen. I didn’t get to watch this movie and vaguely remember of watching some of its parts on ‘TV’, as mentioned above, may be some years back. (However, I sincerely wish to watch it now as and when possible.)

So far two songs of this movie have been posted on the blog and one ‘jab jab jo jo hona hai’ with a ‘passionate’ and ‘interesting’ post by our Santosh Ojha ji and other one ‘hawa se halki hoon aaj’ by Atul ji with the contribution coming from Prakash ji.

I would request readers to go through this post ‘jab jab jo jo hona hai’ too to get a ‘feel’ of this wonderful movie of the ‘seventies’.

“Vishwanaath-1978” was directed by Subhash Ghai for ‘Ramayan Chitra’, Bombay’.

It had Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Premnath, Pran, Rita Bhaduri, Madan Puri, Sulochana, Iftikhar, Jagdish Raj, Randhir, Sapru, Yusuf Khan, Viju Khote, Sudhir, Madhu Chauhan, Keshav Rana, Suresh Desai, and Ashok Khanna.

Parikshit Sahni, Rakesh Pande, Lalita Pawar, Mukri, Bharat Bhushan, Satyen Kappu and Ranjeet make a special appearance in this movie.

This movie had total six songs penned by Vitthalbhai Patel- two songs, M.G. Hashmat – one song, Rajkavi Tulsi – one song and Anjan – two songs.

Music for this movie was composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey gave their voices to the songs in this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 13.01.1978.

Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and written by Anjaan. Music is composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Let us now enjoy this wonderful racy composition by Rajesh Roshan which Reena Roy performs on screen in a ‘villain’s den’. And going by its songs available on YT I think this movie has more than one song in the ‘villain’s den’ song category. Also, I must admit here that I was not aware of this song, few years back, till this post and I came across it while searching for other songs. I don’t even remember if I have heard it earlier somewhere.

As I listened to it many times for the preparation of this post it grew upon me. The composition is something special, I think. And since the preparation of this post I have listened to it many many times now.

Asha Bhonsle’s singing and the tune set to it by Rajesh Roshan no doubt is magical.

The heroine is performing this song in the villain’s den ‘straight way’ challenging him and its music is very much supporting the ‘revengeful’ feelings of the heroine, of course, supported by Shatrughan Sinha and Pran (in disguise). Reena Roy has performed with full zeal and energy on this song.

Today 7th January 2019 is the sixty-second birth anniversary of actress Reena Roy (born on 07.01.1957). Wishing her here a very happy birthday today and a healthy and peaceful life in future, let us now enjoy this wonderful song composed by Rajesh Roshan and written by Anjaan.

Blog Day : 3820 Post No. : 14819

Hullo to all of Atuldom

Let me start by wishing all you readers a very Happy New Year. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful 2019, with a lot of happiness, good health and success in whatever you wish to achieve.

Today is the 2nd of January and our Anniversary Page tells me it is the birth anniversary of Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and the death anniversary of David.

But neither of these is the subject of my post today.

Absolutely no disrespect to them, but today’s post is about a couple of other persons who also happen to have their birthday today.

A few days ago, Avinashji contacted me and reminded me that the birthday of two Atulites was coming up. He had a song in mind, and asked me if I could do a post for the occasion.

Now every year around this time (end-Dec/early Jan) I get a bit busier than usual. I have family visiting me from overseas, as it is Christmas vacation in most places around the world. Besides, this year I have some family events also around New Year’s time, requiring me to plan and travel.

So I wasn’t absolutely sure I’d be able to write this post – so I told Avinashji I’d try.

So here I am.

I will not keep you in suspense any longer about the identity of the two Atulites involved.

First, Pradeepji. (I am taking them up one by one so that you don’t stop reading right here. And no, you’re not allowed to skip to the next part of the post. 🙂 )

If some more recent readers of this blog are not particularly familiar with Pradeepji, I can understand. In recent times, he has not been very active on the blog – but he has a long history with it. And when there is a mega occasion, like when the blog completed 10 years a few months ago, we can always expect him to write a post for the occasion.

I’ve known Pradeepji from the early days when he used to comment on the blog. Then we finally got to meet in October 2014, when we had our first Atulites’ gangout in Bangalore. Pradeepji came all the way from Chennai for the event.

It was just wonderful to meet him, as also all the other Atulites who I finally got to meet face-to-face. We had a fantastic time, discussing music (of course!) but also other stuff.

Pradeepji is multi-faceted, in that not only is he a keen lover of music in a passive sense, he also tries to use his tech-oriented mind to look for ways to propagate music. It was Pradeepji who first tried to get our blog onto mobile devices in a manner that could enhance its richness, using features of software like itunes.

Pradeepji was keen to exploit the richness of our blog beyond its existing framework. So, after discussion with Atul and others, he started a project where, when all songs of a film were covered on the blog, he would load that film’s songs onto another platform. This process would involve enriching the data by adding more tags, thus allowing for even more filtering possibilities. To provide an even more nostalgic experience, he would add a poster of the film wherever possible.

I will not discuss this project in more detail because I don’t want to expose my ignorance on it. 🙂 But some of us were happy to join in and help out. I was also involved for a brief period, but there were others who were involved for much longer.

Now, for a film to be eligible to be picked up by Pradeepji for his project, all its songs had to be posted on the blog. There’s no point in doing multiple iterations for the same film. So Pradeepji would wait for a film to be “complete”. And whenever that would happen, he would respond in the comments with a “Yippeeee”. 🙂

And that’s how the project got its name, that’s how the name stuck.

So much so, that when Atul would post the final song of a film here, he’d himself mention that the film is ready to be “Yippeeed”. In other words, ready to be taken over by Pradeepji and his team. 🙂

As a result, for many of us, if we had to represent Pradeepji with one word, it would be “Yippeeee”! 🙂

After that first Bangalore gangout, we had a couple of others too, but Pradeepji couldn’t attend. However I did get to meet him earlier this year on a visit to Chennai. Although it was only for a few minutes, not more than half an hour, it felt really good. We caught up with developments. Pradeepji, multi-faceted person that he is, is busy on multiple projects, developing websites for e-commerce. Mostly out of passion for trying out different things.

From my interactions with Pradeepji, whether face-to-face or otherwise (during the Yippeeee project), I noticed that he is not just a warm person and extremely down-to-earth, he also has a lot of energy and enthusiasm for things. I believe the term for this sort of enthusiastic persion is “zinda dil”?

Anyway, today, on his birthday, I wish him a very happy birthday on behalf of all Atulites.

Now, to our second Atulite birthday today.

If you’ve been sharp enough, you might have picked up a hint already from the way I started this post. It’s not my usual style.

There’s one Atulite who starts posts in this manner – “Hullo to all in Atuldom”.

And that is Peevisie’s Mom.

It’s her birthday also today, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to write this post to wish her on the occasion.

Now Peevisie’s Mom (PM) and I have met a few times more than Pradeepji and I. We live in the same city, so it’s easier to meet up for an occasion. We first met on that first Bangalore Gangout day in October 2014 (the same one that Pradeepji also attended). Thereafter, we met at the next one too, and also on other occasions like when Arunji and Avinashji visited Bangalore, or when Lalitha visited Bangalore (when I first got to meet Peevisie’s Dad too). Besides, we speak on the phone every now and then – usually discussing a post, or she reminds me of an anniversary coming up. 🙂

I talked about Pradeepji’s enthusiasm and his being “zinda dil” – that applies equally to PM too. She too is a very enthusiastic and cheerful person – so much so, that it even tends to rub off on an otherwise gloomy me. Everytime after a conversation with her, usually on the phone for a few minutes, I feel better. And I can’t say that for a lot of people. 🙂

She’s also one of the most active persons on our Atulite whatsapp group, participating in every discussion. But that’s the energy she brings with her – whether on the group, or in conversation or in a post. She’s a wonderfully friendly and warm person – and that warmth is infectious. Which also explains why I feel better after a conversation with her. 🙂

She’s also hugely passionate about HFM and movies – which is what brought us all together to this blog in the first place. But unlike me, her knowledge isn’t limited to any specific eras or genres. For example, I barely know 5 songs of this millennium, she would know almost every film released and its music. No wonder many of the post-2000 songs posted here are from her (and Peevisie herself, of course). And yet she also knows old songs – maybe partly because she also listens to radio or watches song programmes on TV. So her knowledge is definitely wide.

She’s very fond of this blog – we can see that she tries to post on as many anniversary occasions as possible. I remember there was a time when I had more posts here than she did. In fact at that time, I had even a few posts more than Avinashji. But clearly, they were both going to overtake me, because I was hardly posting at that time. She called me up and when this topic came up, she said “bade bhai se aage nikalne ka permission chaahiye”. 🙂 We had a good laugh about it. 🙂

All in all, she’s a wonderful friend to have – and I’m fortunate to have her as a friend.

I wish her too a very happy birthday on behalf of all Atulites.

Now, for the song for today.

It’s a song picked by Avinashji – a fitting birthday song for the occasion. I want to mention here that this post wouldn’t have happened if not for Avinashji’s initiative, so it must be seen as a joint effort by both of us.

The song is “Pam para rum pum” from Trishna (1978), a GP Sippy Productions film. It is sung by Kishore Kumar and the chorus (in which a very young Sadhana Sargam got a chance to sing).

I’ve seen this movie but I don’t recall too much of the story now. It had to do with relationships, a “murder”, suspicion etc, from what I vaguely remember. I need to watch the film again.

In any case, let’s enjoy the song, as we wish both Pradeepji and Peevisie’s Mom a very happy birthday.
Editor’s note-Today is the birthday of Sheela Ji, Avinash ji’s better half’s birthday as well. So happy birthday and many happy returns of the day to her as well.

Welcome all and wishing all a very Happy New Year 2019!!!

May this New Year bring us all peace, prosperity, good health, and growth of our country in all areas which are concerned with the ‘common man’ and which helps to improve the ‘quality of life’ and ‘quality of living’ for the people of this country.

Within few months general elections for the parliament will also be held and people will get a chance to vote for their ‘fate’ and ‘fate’ of the country.

Let ‘positivity’ prevails and let the ‘truth’ triumphs over ‘misleading negativity’ and ‘social evils’ that are still a ‘threat’ for the ‘unity’ and ‘overall development’ of this country.

***

On the beginning of every year I always think that I should share a song which has celebration, a message in it and it should be motivational and/or inspirational too. And the better if it is a group song or having ‘chorus singing’ in it, to give it a sense of ‘collective spirit’ and ‘team spirit’ 🙂

I think the song I am presenting today serves this purpose I am looking for and it also motivates for ‘hard work’ (mehnat) to fulfil the dreams of individual and for the betterment of the society overall.

And the other reason for this article once again is ‘nostalgia’ and ‘songs that brings back memories’ …

It was not suddenly that the song came to my mind. It so happened that one day while I was travelling from my Camp place to work place and just give a look at the Sun which was shining brightly in the morning.

(Normally when I do that, giving a look at the Sun or staring it a while, the first thing coming to my mind is Kapil Dev 🙂 )

But that day when I try to stare at the Sun more, I break into singing these lines … ‘sooraj se aankhen milaa’ … yes there is song which I had heard in my childhood, but another moment I confused it with ‘oonchi oonchi baaton se kisi ka pet bharta nahin’, but corrected myself that that the two were different songs.

Somewhere the tune of both of these songs appear to be connected because both songs are composed by the same music director Rajesh Roshan.
However, I had forgotten the name of the movie of this song ‘sooraj se aankhen milaa’.

So, I checked about the song and also checked on the blog if it was already covered.
Luckily it was not and thus this opportunity for me to present it here on the blog.

This song is from the 1978 movie ‘Muqqaddar’!!!

Earlier I had planned to send this article during the festival of Diwali, however I could not send it then …

***
When I was still finishing this article, I got to listen the last episode of ‘2018’ of our Primer Minister’s ‘Man Ki Baat’ and also became aware of the recent happenings of the All India DGP/IGP Conference and the awards for ‘National Unity’. Then the PM also highlighted about the many achievements in Sports by India and I when he narrated about a twenty-year-old cyclist and the feat she achieved I real felt very proud about it and was stunned to know that she cycled almost 300 kms every day to complete world tour in 159 days (and to become the ‘first Asian’ to do so) …

At the same time, I was very sad to read a news about a ‘fact check’ for PM’s waiving a train – whether he was ‘waiving an empty train’, which was on its first journey from the newly inaugurated of ‘Bogibeel Bridge’.

This news proves how low we have fallen down in our ‘socio-political’ ‘ethics and morality’. And I am not taking side of any parties involved in this. Even this thought of raising doubt at such an event at this level is very disappointing and it is a sad comment on our day to day affairs where other serious issues are being mocked by peoples having their ‘own selfish motives’.

Let us wish that ‘false propaganda’ and ‘false allegations’ not take over the real concerning issues of our country and let people use the social media with maturity.

Well ‘neki aur badi ki ladaayi jabse duniya bani hai tabse se chali aa rahi hain, agar buraayi na ho to koi achchaayi ko na poochhe, oonchaai ko samajhne ke liye hamehsa nichhayi ko samajhna chaahiye’

And between this ‘neki and badi’ is our Police force who safeguards us and safeguards our Nation in turn from the various ‘crimes’ in our society … I salute to them all and hope they keep up the good work rising above ‘caste, creed, religion, and beliefs’, in the interest of ‘National Unity’ forever …

Our today’s movie – ‘Muqaddar-1978’ is ‘DEDICATED TO, THE TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR SOLDIERS! THE UNSUNG HEROES! THE POLICE!!

And the dialogues mentioned above are not mine … Abdul Bhai (Yunus Parvez) is saying this to Inspector Vijay Saxena (Sanjeev Kumar) in our today’s movie …

Abdul Bhai runs a ‘road side dhaba’ and Inspector Vijay is his daily customer, and when Abdul Bhai suggests Vijay that he should get married so that he doesn’t have to worry about his food …

‘meri shaadi to us din ho gayi thhi jis din main police mein bharti huaa thha’
‘Chori dakaiti murder ye sab ek wafaadaar biwi ki tarah hamesha mere saath lage rehte hai…
‘Aisaa lagta hai Abdul Bhai is duniya se achchhe aadmi uthh gaye hain’

(Sanjeev Kumar at his best and the dialogues of this movie also, I think, very nice, I thought it was Kader Khan, but no, they are by Dr. Balkrishna Mauj)

Meanwhile as Inspector is taking his dinner a ‘bhikhari budhhiya’ comes and ask for ‘kuchh khilaa do’, Vijay asks Abdul Bhai’s assistant to give her food and he will pay for it …
‘main gareeb ki madad karne ke khilaaf nahin hoon Vijay Bhai, lekin kisika haath paaon salaamat ho to use bheekh dena use kaamchor banaana hai’ … (Abdul Bhai’s sincere thoughts …)

‘Abdul Bhai aadmi ka sabse badaa dushman uska pet hai, agar wo bhara rahe to thhik hai, agar khali ho jaaye to dimaag se jhagdaa karta, aur phir kuchh karta hai jise ham pasand nahin karte’ (Inspector Vijay’s statement on reality (fact check? 😊 )

As the Bhikhari Buddhiya is crossing the road a car hits her and run away … Inspector Vijay follows the car, and as usual taking ‘Kaanoon’ in his hands ‘beats the ‘badmaash(s)’ … but then he has to face his senior – played by Jairaj – and his ‘quintessential’ questions (which are valid even today?)

‘wo sab chaahte hai ke tumhaare khilaaf action liyaa jaaye’

Lekin Sir mujhe unse koi jaati dushmani nahin thhi

Jaati dushmani mujhe bhi tumse nahin hai …

Main tumhe dhaaravi ke ilaake mein transfer karta hoon, Jahaan kuchh sakht kisam ke mujrim active hai … tumhe apni taaqat aazmaane ka poora poora mauqa milega’ Ya to tumhaari sakhti se sudhar jaayenge, ya to wo log tumhe apne aap par kaabu rakhna sikha denge

So, our Inspector is now in Dharavi, and he already has a sincere and dedicated assistant there – Patil (Bharat Kapoor) … who eventually sacrifices his life since he has been asked that ‘is mujrim pe goli mat chalana’ … but mujrim fires on him …

In Dharavi we have Parishit Sahni as a ‘labour leader’ working in a ‘kapada mill’ of Amjad Khan who is also interested in ‘smuggling’ and to become the ‘wealthiest smuggler’ …
Amjad Khan has a sister – played by Rekha – who is interested in social work and has a soft corner towards labors in the ‘basti’ and Ramu Dada is there in the form of Shashi Kapoor who is a ‘spoiled’ younger brother of Parishit Sahni.
Vidya Sinha plays wife of Parishit Sahni, Shashi’s Bhabhi and Rekha’s friend. Paintal is Shashi’s lieutenant and accompanies him whenever he is driving truck and enjoying ‘mujaras’ after the day’s hard work …

Sanjeev Kumar after reaching Dharavi destroys many ‘daaru and matke ka addaas’ and declares to the goons …
“Aaj se jurm ki wo tehniyaa kat gayin hain, jinpe baithhke tum manmaani kiya karte thhe”

Ramu Dada is still not co-operating Inspector Vijay until he realises the real game of the Smugglers …
Vijay is hopeful of rehabilitating Ramu Dada and reform him to the ‘regular stream’ of ‘good people’ …

But how does it happen finally is after the today’s song and I would like the readers interest intact to watch this movie so not going in further details of this movie here … 🙂

Since the beginning of the movie many are waiting for ‘Dushehra’ festival, like Amjad Khan declares bonus to workers as he wants them to work on ‘Dushehre ki Chhutti’ and he can in hide of it arrange ‘smugglers meet’ so that no one doubts …

***
A beggar (Chandu) – deaf and dumb – always asking for money from Amar Babu (Parikshit Sahni), on his advice has given up begging and from the money given by Amar Babu is now making pictures of ‘Ganesh, Sai Baba’, and ‘Shri Ram’ made by Rangoli on the road side …

***

Peoples are celebrating ‘Dushehra’ now and that is where the today’s song happens …

‘The evil -Raavana’s effigy is set with its ten faces of ‘evils’ and Parikshit Sahni, Rekha, Vidya Sinha with the labors in the basti starts celebrating with this song and Shashi Kapoor joins in between ( coming back from his tour to Goa) , and at the end of the celebrations as the Ravana’s effigy is set to fire by the arrows of Parikshit and Shashi Kapoor, enters our Inspector Vijay Saxena – Sanjeev Kumar – for checking of the ‘truck’ driven by Shashi from Goa with smuggled items 😊

Blog Day : 3818 Post No. : 14816

“Phaansi”(1978) was directed by Harmesh Malhotra for Eastern Films, Bombay. This movie had Shashi Kapoor, Sulakshana Pandit, Ranjeet, Pran, Jeewan, Ifthikhar, Sapru, Urmila Bhatt, Sudhir, Rammohan, Mohan Sherry, Shetty, Birbal, Aarti, Rajrani, aruna Irani, Asrani etc in it. THe movie also had special appearances by Anwar Hussain, B M Vyas, Randheer, Poornima, Mohan Choti, Chaman Puri and Dev Kumar.

This movie was one of those one hundred odd movies that Shashi Kapoor had signed up after the fortuitious success of his “Chor Machaaye Shor”(1975). The success of that movie had more to do with the music but Shashi Kapoor was the biggest beneficiary. Produceers made a beeline signing up Shashi Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor signed up all the movies indiscriminately. He became so busy that he did not have “dates” to offer for the shooting of these movies. Those were the days when actors gave “dates” in units of “shifts”, but Shashi Kapoor began to give his “dates” in units of “hours” rather than “shifts”, much to the chagrin of his producers, including his elder brother Raj Kapoor, who had signed him up for “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” (1978).

I was no Shashi Kapoor fan, and I did not touc any of these Shashi Kapoor solo movies even with a barge pole.

Coming to “Phaansi”(1978), this movie was no great shakes. I did not watch it. The only thing worth remembering in this movie was a Rafi-Sulakshana Pandit duetsong, “jab aati hogi yaad meri.” This song, one out of four songs in the movie has already been covered in the past.

Here is the second song from “Phaansi”(1978) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lata and chorus. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The song is picturised as a mujra dance song where Aruna Irani plays the mujre waali and Shashi Kapoor is her centre of attention. To this date, I have not understood why Hindi movie heroes (who were supposed to be men of virtue) would make their presence felt in the mujra songs of those days. 🙂

Song-Hamaari beqaraar si nazar bhi dekh lena (Phaansi)(1978) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal
Chorus

Lyrics

humaari bekaraar si nazar bhi dekh lena
humaari bekaraar si nazar bhi dekh lena
humaari bekaraar si nazar bhi dekh lena
jo sab ko dekh lo to phir
idhar bhi dekh lena
jo sab ko dekh lo to phir
idhar bhi dekh lena
humaari bekaraar si
nazar bhi dekh lena
humaari bekaraar

kya batlaaun mere qaatil
kaise tumko paaya hai
jab galiyaan galiyaan dil bhatka
tab is manzil tak aaya hai
ajeeb hai ye pyaar ka safar bhi dekh lena
ajeeb hai ye pyaar ka safar bhi dekh lena
jo sab ko dekh lo
to phir idhar bhi dekh lena

aap ke deewaane bhi
aap ke deewaane bhi
aise kahaan baaz aate hain
dil se hain jo khelte
jaan pe bhi khel jaate hain
ab chaahe qayaamat uthh jaaye
deewaane kahaan ghabraate hain
ghabraate hain
ghabraate hain
tum aaj gham ke maaron ka jigar bhi dekh lena
tum aaj gham ke maaron ka jigar bhi dekh lena
jo sab ko dekh lo
to phir idhar bhi dekh lena

aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa

aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa

aa aa
loot ke baithhe ho tum
loot ke baithhe ho tum
kis ko andheri raaton mein
lahu ye hai ke rang hai
kuchh to laga hai haathon mein
yoon hi nahi kaha jaane jahaan
kuchh dam hain humari baato mein
haan baato me
ae ji baaton mein
udegi subah tak koi khabar bhi dekh lena
udegi subah tak koi khabar bhi dekh lena
humaari bekaraar si nazar bhi dekh lena
jo sab ko dekh lo to phir idhar bhi dekh lena
