In olden days, Indians subscribed to very simplistic philosophies. One such philosophy was “Likhoge padhoge banoge nawab, khologe koodege hoge kharaab” ( Rough translation-Studies will make your life, sports will mar it) .
Such songs may sound like preaching or moralising in today’s world, but the messages carried in such idealistic songs were actually taken seriously those days.
This song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri and composed by Khayyam. This song is sung by Rafi and Lata and picturised on Honey Irani and Sheikh Mukhtar and these actors get to utter a few words too, and thus they become eligible to be described as singers of this song. This song is from a movie called “Barood” (1960)
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
samjhe naa
chhutti mile to khilaunon se khelo
chhutti mile to khilaunon se khelo
jaldi se phir tum kitaabon ko le lo
jaldi se phir tum kitaabon ko le lo
ji naa churaao
baaten naa banaao
jaahil rahoge to hoge badnaam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
alif se bolo kyaa hotaa hai
ullu
o imaan
duniyaa mein dekho imaandaar rahnaa
duniyaa mein dekho imaandaar rahnaa
jhooth nahin achchhaa sadaa sach kahnaa
jhooth nahin achchhaa sadaa sach kahnaa
dil ko kisi ke tum na dukhaanaa
aisi hi neki karo subah-shaam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
achchhaa bolo b se kyaa hotaa hai

hmm bahaadur
banke bahaadur tum apne watan ke
banke bahaadur tum apne watan ke
nigehbaan haan rahnaa tum apne chaman ke
nigehbaan haan rahnaa tum apne chaman ke
isko sambhaalo gale se lagaa lo
ho aazaad ab to na honaa phir ghulaam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
achchhaa munnaa bolo te se kyaa hotaa hai
teetar

taqdeer kyaa hai tum isko bhulaa do
taqdeer kyaa hai tum isko bhulaa do
ilm hunar se andhere mitaa do
ilm hunar se andhere mitaa do
badhte chalo tum qadam ko milaa ke
phir aayegi manzil karegi salaam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam

tum bhi karo kuchh aur seekh lo jeenaa

mehnat karoge samjhe haan

badon ne kahaa hai aaraam hai haraam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
hi,
Very happy to get to see ur blog…..i like old hindi songs …u have it with videos is very nice….thanks ….
can u give the lyrics of nani teri morni ko mor le gayi… i don’t know from which film it is…. can u send it by tomorrow… got to prepare for a function.
While searching for the link of the above song, which was not working, i found this part -2 of this song, wherein Sudhir and Kumkum are lip syncing to Rafi & Lata’s voice respectively, while searching for Honey Irani (hope I am correct),
This part-2 has a repeat of stanza 3- ban ke bahadur … of part -1 and one extra stanza which is given below the link ;
part-2
banke bahaadur tum apne watan ke
banke bahaadur tum apne watan ke
nigehbaan haan rahnaa tum apne chaman ke
nigehbaan haan rahnaa tum apne chaman ke
isko sambhaalo gale se lagaa lo
ho aazaad ab to na honaa phir ghulaam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
likho-padhoge to aage badhoge
sitaaron se uunchaa tumhaaraa hogaa naam
kuchh to bataao
kahaan kho gaye ho
kuchh to bataao
kahaan kho gaye ho
baat kya huyi jo
khafaa ho gaye ho
baat kya huyi jo
khafaa ho gaye ho
munh na chhuppao
surtiyaa dikhaao
sun lo hamaare ye dil ka
payaam
sha se bolo kya hota hai
munna jawaab do o
sher …..
With this multiple version the total no of songs of this film should be Eight.
I think correction is required in HFGK which mentions ‘aise na munh chhupaao..’ , wrongly as part-2 (of the song likho padhoge) , whereas ‘aise na munh chhupaao’ is totally a different song.
( Kindly review and advice please)
