In 1940s and 50s, Bollywood music drew mainly from folk music of India as well as from Hindustani classical music.
Moreover, western music also began to be used in Bollywood music. C Ramchandra and Vinod were two such music directors who used western music extensively in their music.
O P Nayyar, who began ruling the roost in Bollywood music in 1950s was known mainly for his Punjabi folk music based compositions. But here in this song from “Bhaagambhag”, he used western music. and it sounds so nice to listen to.
This song is sung by Rafi and Kishore Kumar. It must be one of the earliest cases of Rafi and Kishore Kumar singing a song together. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
This tune is apparently a lift from a western tune( Mambo Italiano by Dean Martin). But then who is complaining ?

Loved this song. I did in fact look for Dean Martin’s Mambo Italiano and heard it.. but frankly the desi version sounds better ;).

Incidentally there is another song in the movie sung by Kishore & Rafi together. Must be one of the few, if not only movie where they have sung in more than 1 song together.
