Chali kahaan hansti gaati..kaun hai kaun hai kaun hai

Posted on: July 4, 2009

This is a song one will love listening to. The picturisation, I think is quite eye catching. The picturisation shows two damsels in typically bright dresses which are supposedly the dresses worn in villages while going to the local river to fetch water and exchange gossip.

The two damsels are dressed in complementing colours. One is dressed in bright red with blue border at the bottom of her lahenga. Other is dressed in shiny blue with a red border at the bottom of her lahenga. The lahengas are tied up quite low at the waist, which is again the recommended way for village damsels to dress in a Bollywood movie.

Seeing their dress, I have got an idea. It is about the game of cricket- the other big passion of Indians apart from Bollywood movies. If women’s cricket is to be popularised, let them play T20 cricket in this kind of dress. I can visualise Indian women dressed in blue lahenga (with red border at the bottom) taking on Dutch women dressed in orange lahenga (with blue strip at the bottom). I can even visualise Mumtaz being fielded in the Dutch team, seeing how often she was seen being dressed in orange colours in Bollywood movies.

Coming back to the point, this song shows two pretty damsels, wearing bright dresses, exchanging tidbits about the hottest guy in town village. That guy is seen bathing his buffalos in the river, and finding out that he is the subject of discussion by the ladies, he too joins in , uninvited.

It is a great fun song, to my mind, though by my categorisation, it is a river song, boat song etc. This song is a must watch. as I mentioned earlier, I am quite impressed by the picturisation of this song.

The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Hemlata and Rafi. Though it says Hemlata, I think the voice did not sound too much like Hemlata to my ears. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the music.

I am all at loss when it comes to identifying the two brightly dressed damsels. I was even foxed by the guy, as he was disguised by mustache, but I saw through his disguise to identify him as Jeetendra.

Lol @ T20 comment. Just send it to Lalit Modi – and who knows, it might happen sooner than you think. 🙂

One of these damsels is definitely Aruna Irani. The other could be Jyothi Lakshmi.

I saw this movie a few years ago. Nothing much to write home about. It has that song “aaja meri jaan ye hai june ka maheena”.

Raja ji

You are right she is famous south dancer JYOTHILAXMI, she played the heroine`s role opposite Kishore kumar in Paayal ki jhankaar(old one, not rajashree production`s venture).
She later appeared in dubbed hindi movies like HASEENA ATOMBOMB Am I right????(roles like c grade Lady rambo)
