The movie as well as this song from the movie lies forgotten today, but this song from “Banarasi Babu” (1973) was quite popular those days.
this song in fact is the title song of the as well as the introduction song of the hero. Dev saab the hero announces by this song that he is Banarasi Babu.
This song may not have gone on to become as popular as some other introduction songs, but it was quite a rage with impressionable kids like me at that time. The fact that Kishore Kumar sang this song meant that this song had to be on the lips of everyone. Kishore Kumar the reigning male playback singer those days could do no wrong. Whatever song he sang tended to become popular. I recall listening to this song a lot in Radio Ceylon’s “aaphi ke geet” programme in the morning between 8 A M and 9 A M.
Anjaan wrote this song and Kalyanji Anandji composed the music, though such details were not mentioned by the Radio Ceylon annoucer. He would only mention the name of the singer, and as a result I used to think that it was the singer who used to create the song single handedly. Yes, I was that uninformed those days.

thanks for the upload. I too remember having heard this song over Radio Ceylon those days. Only now I got to see the video and has not seen the movie till date.
