With Shammi Kapoor in the screen, you expect him to sing and others to watch. But this song from “Tumse Achcha kaun hai” (1969) is an exception.
This song is a cabarat song. And no, it is not Helen or Fariyal or Bindu or any other familiar cabaret dancer here. It is Aruna Irani who is seen in this rather unfamiliar role of a cabaret dancer in this song.
Listening to Lata singing a cabaret song is an equally unfamiliar experience. But we have seen in the past that Lata was indeed singing quite a few cvabaret songs in those days, and a few of them can indeed be bracketed among the most well known cabaret songs oif all times.
This song though is a new one for me. I watched and listened to this song for the first time just today.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist of this song and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music. Apart from Aruna Irani, Shammi Kapoor, Pran and Babita can also be seen in this song.

This movie is good. I saw it for the first time last December and that is when I got onto the Shammi Kapoor fan craze. The song “janam janam ka” is really good where he shows his great moves. Very entertaining movie. You can see where Karishma gets her looks in this movie with Babita. The resemblance is so striking.
i was hooked first time i heard when released thru then RADIO CEYLON who have very systematic broadcast of newly releasing film songs and surprisingly this was yet another SJ tuned song that was never played in vivid bharathy .
A good song that sank because of movie flopping!!
