Luti zindagi aur gham muskuraaye

When I was young, I preferred the music of new movies rather than old movies, and it always annoyed me that there were several movies released in 1970s which had the same names as movies of earlier decades. Thus we had movies like “Andaaz”, “Anpadh”,”Parvarish” etc released in 1970s which had same names as movies of 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. On Vividh Bharati, when I heard the name of these movies , I half expected to hear a song from the newer movie, but I invariably got to hera a song from the older movie.
And how things have changed now ! I actually love the songs from the older movies with the same name. The songs of older “Parvarish” (1958) have grown on me, whereas the songs of newer “Parvarish” (Amitabh, Vinod Khanna starrer) have faded from memory.
Here is a song sung by Lata from the older “Parvarish”. It is picturised on Mala Sinha. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and Dattaram is the music director.
It is a great sad song, the kind that I could not stand listening to in my younger days, but now I simply love to listen to such songs.
And let me assure you that listening to sad songs does make one a sad person. 😉
It is the ability to convey sadness so emphatically and causing a mood change in the listener that makes this song worth listening to.

vow. what a lovely song . i have heard this song many times but never knew that this song belongs to film parvarish. just superb. lataji has express ,sadness and lovely music by n dattaraam ( one time asst. to sj)
