Today (14 August 2009) is Janmashtami and it is a holiday all over India.
I was not aware of this fact and I actually arrived at my office today ! Just shows how devoted to work I am. 😉
I like to post topical songs and I would have definitely prepared for posting a few Janmashtami related songs today, had I been aware of this fact beforehand.
Better late than never. My namesake Atul has requested for this iconic song “Govinda aala re” from “Bluffmaster” (1963) just a couple of hours earlier. I checked up and found that although I had posted three songs from this movie in this blog, this song was not among them. Perhaps I was waiting for occasions like this to post the remaining songs.
So here it is. This wonderful song “Govinda aala re” which has become a must play song in the streets of Mumbai ( and elsewhere on this occasion) was written by Rajinder Krishan. Kalyanji Anandji composed this energetic tune. The song was sung with gusto by Rafi. And why not ? After all, he was singing this song for Shammi Kapoor.
So here is this song “Govinda aalaa re aalaa” for the listeneing and viewing pleasure of all.

THE Janmasthtami song.
Have been hearing this from my childhood on Janmashtami day.
For a long time I did not even know that it was a film song.
Kalyanji Anandji have done a fantastic job here with the music.
This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song.
This is a labour of love, where “new” songs are added every day, and that has been the case for over FIFTEEN years. This blog has over 18300 song posts by now.
