Vrindaawan ka Krishna Kanhaiyya sabki aankhon kaa taara

“Miss Mary” (1957) is a movie that I like a lot. It has Gemini Ganeshan (Rekha’s father), Meena Kumari, Kishore Kumar etc in lead roles and it is a nice, heartwarming movie.
And as was usual with movies of those era, it has exceptional music composed by Hemant Kumar. I have posted several songs from this movie to this blog, and some songs still remain to be posted.
Here is a piano song from this movie. It is a piano song in the sense that Gemini Ganeshan sits at the piano and he is supposed to play it, though you cannot tell it by the music of tabla, flute and other instruments that one can hear. 😉 He is teaching Jamuna who is seen dancing to his tune. Her parents look on approvingly, whereas Meena Kumari looks distinctly unhappy.
This is a lovely song written by Rajinder Krishan. It is sung by Rafi and Lata and this song is so soothing to listen to. I in fact call such songs as mental massage song because listening to this song makes one feel relaxed.

Vrindaavan kaa Krishna Kanhaiyaa

Jamunaa tat par Nand kaa laalaa
jab jab raas rachaaye re
Jamunaa tat par Nand kaa laalaa
jab jab raas rachaaye re
tan man dole Kaanhaa aisi
bansi madhur bajaaye re
sudh-budh bhooli khadi gopiyaan
jaane kaisaa jaadu daaraa
Vrindaavan kaa Krishna Kanhaiyaa
sab ki aankhon kaa taaraa
rang salonaa aisaa jaise
chhaayi ho ghat saawan ki
rang salonaa aisaa jaise
chhaayi ho ghat saawan ki
ai ri main to huyi deewaani

chhod diyaa maine jag saaraa
Vrindaavan kaa Krishnna Kanhaiyaa
sab ki aankhon kaa taaraa

Wonderful collection. …Thanks for all the efforts.
This particular song is the same as the original in Missamma (telugu) also made as Missyamma in tamil and was composed by S. Rajeswara Rao. Hemant Kumar retained this song for the reasons mentioned …mental massage.

Yes, agreed with the ‘mental massage’ term, soothing effect and feeling relaxed .. Same feeling as we get from ‘aan milo aan milo shyam saanware’ !
Secondly, i note that most of the ‘krishna’ songs are penned by Rajinder Krishan ji. I t would be intresting to note how many are they.
Jai Shri Krishna !!!
