What is the difference between a cabarat song and a seductive song ? Simple ! If Helen does it, it is cabarat. If Mumtaz does it, it is seductive song. 😉
So here is a seductive song from “Mere Sanam”(1965). And as can be expected, Asha Bhonsle is the playback singer. And considering that O P Nayyar is the music director, she would have been the female playback singer even if it was a non cabarat/ non secuction number.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
This song is easily one of the most memorable songs of its genre. This song is just awesome.

Lyrics
hmmm
hahaha
ye hai reshmi zulfon kaa andheraa
na ghabraayiye
jahaan tak mahak hai mere gesuon ki
chale aayiye
ye hai reshmi zulfon kaa andheraa
na ghabraayiye
jahaan tak mahak hai mere gesuon ki
chale aayiye
ye hai reshmi zulfon kaa andheraa
na ghabraayiye
jahaan tak mahak hai mere gesuon ki
chale aayiye
suniye to zaraa, jo haqeeqat hai kahte hain ham
khulte rukte, in rangeen labon ki qasam
jal uthenge diye jugnuon ki tarah
jal uthenge diye jugnuon ki tarah
jee tabassum to faramaaiye,
hahaha ha
ye hai reshmi zulfon kaa andheraa na ghabraayiye
jahaan tak mahak hai mere gesuon ki, chale aayiye
lalaa laa laa,
lalalalala
la la laa
pyaasi hai nazar,
haan
ye bhi kahne ki hai baat kyaa
tum ho mehmaan,
to na thahregi ye raat kyaa
raat jaaye
rahen aap dil mein mere
raat jaaye
rahen aap dil mein mere
armaan ban ke rah jaaiye,
hahahaha
ha
ye hai reshmi zulfon kaa andheraa na ghabraayiye
jahaan tak mahak hai mere gesuon ki, chale aayiye

Hello Atul,
I would like to submit a little correction to the line ‘YEH tabassum toh farmayeein’.
The correct line is ‘JEE tabassum toh farmayeein’.
I love your blog intensely and like to read the special piece of information that you provide before each song.
Cheers,
Anand

One of the most sensual piece of art Asha Bohsly left for the generations to come to feel good about their musical heritage.
