I was not aware about this movie called “Jyoti” (1969). This was obviously a movie that sank without its trace and the songs of this movie suffered as a result too.
Here is a song from this movie. And what a song ! It is a duet sung by Lata and Manna Dey. It is written by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by S D Burman.
The song is picturised on Sanjeev Kumar and Nivedita.
I recall listening to this song in my younger days without being aware which movie this song was from.

“Nivedita” featured in this song is the same nivedita we are talking about who featured in Shagoon song “Tum apna ranj-o-gam” Am I right? Further, she acted opposite sanjeev kumar itself, in 1973 relased fillm “Rocky mera naam”(music :sapan jagmohan), Tu hi meri zindagi(opposite deb mukherjee), Dharthi kahe pukarke(again opposite sanjeev kumar).

And what a song….
Superbly sung by Lataji. She never “sings” a song. She only emotes through her voice and singing. Never uses voice dynamics, never varies her voice projection or volume. Same projection, same volume, yet one can hear and feel every emotion she renders.
