In Bollywood movies, rolypoly characters are mostly used for comic relief.
So here is this song from “Muhabbat Isko Kahte Hain” (1965) where a bit actor is seen singing a love song addressed to a roly poly lady, and this is supposed to be a comedy song. I would have thought that so, but I honestly feel that love does not discriminate on the basis of appearance. Not just hero and heroine, even lesser characters in the movie, even if they do not have the good looks of the lead actors have the right to sing romantic songs.
Having thus stood for the romantic rights of comedians, let me give other details of this song. This song is sung by Mukesh. I have no idea who is the person on whom this soong is picturised, though here is no mistaking the addressee of the song. she is the one and only Tuntun.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Khayyam composed the music.
