I had last heard this song over three decades ago. I was looking for this song for quite some time. I was finally able to locate this elusive song yesterday.
This song “o pawan veg se udne waale ghode” is a song from “Jai Chittor” (1961). This song is sung by Nirupa Roy, playing Rana Pratap’s wife, who sings this song exhorting Chetak, the horse of Maharana Pratap , to ensure victory for her husband.
We have had several songs devoted to historical figures, but this is a rare song devoted to a horse that has passed into folklore.
This song was written with passion by Bharat Vyas and was set to music by S N Tripathi with equal fervour. And Lata has sung this song with feeling. This song is a must listen song for music lovers.
The video of this song abruptly stops after two stanzas. There is another stanza in this song. I have included the full lyrics, including the last stanza not shown in the video.

It is a fantastic song indeed. I have no idea why this song is so difficult to come across now a days.

After searching days and few hours per day finally I got your this song though half but thanks any way, because apart from my deep choice my wife too loves this rare song and it was a challenge for me to trace out this rare song for her too.
Though mentioned that full lyrics is added but I am not able listen full. Any clue / help Pl. !!!!!

What I meant is that the lyrics that I have written down is complete. The video of the song of course misses the last stanza. But the portion of the song that one can listen to and watch is pure magic.
Like you, I too was on the look out of this song for quite some time, and I finally stumbled upon it just recently.

I somehow missed this song when you posted it but today happened to listen to it. I was also one of those who listened to it as a young boy at least 35 years ago! What a beautiful song it is. When Bharat Vyas is involved, you can be assured of pure lyrics.

This was a popular song of its time. I remember this song as a child. Later in secondary school, we had a HIndi poem on Chetak that started as “chet karo ab chet karo…” and the poem always reminded me of this song.
