In Bollywood movies on gods, gods are often shown behaving in exemplary fashion, and not like humans. Perhaps that is one reason why such movies do not become popular with movie watchers. No love scenes, no songs and dance and therefore no audiences for such devotional movies.
But there are exceptions. Some of the Gods, especially Lord Shiva is depicted in mythologically as one who behaved like human beings. This mythological movie “Tulsi Vivaah” (1971) takes advantage of this fact.
In this song, Parvati, aspiring to marry Lord Shiva ( she finally marries him, as we know from mythology) tries to attract his attention by singing and dancing a seductive dance. And I must tell you, the lyrics are quite seductive and erotic. Music is by C Ramchandra, and it was perhaps the last movie of C Ramchandra as a music director.
This song is picturised on Geetanjali (playing Parvati) and Dara Singh (playing Lord Shiva). It was not a song that I was aware of. But I must say this song is quite a handful. Asha Bhonsle’s voicemakes this song quite seductive and erotic indeed.
