Wo chaand muskaaya sitaare sharmaaye

Madan Mohan is mostly known for his immortal ghazals, but he has created other genre of music as well. In fact, for much of 1950s, his music direction style was not well defined. His music during this period often resembled the music of many other sources.
His music was often based on Indian classical music, but here is a song composed by him that is inspired from western classical music.
This song is from “Aakhri Daao” (1958), but this song could not find a place in the movie and the video of this song is not available. It is such a nice song to listen to. bemused123, a big Madan Mohan fan and a regular commentator of this blog, has taken pains to upload this song with some alternative video from the same movie. I am very thankful to him to introduce this great forgotten song from the past. It is such a nice soothing song to listen to late at night. That way, it is an ideal chaayaageet song.
Song-Wo chaand muskaaya sitaare sharmaaye (Aakhri Daao) (1958) Manna Dey, Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Madan Mohan
Lyrics
Wo chaand muskaaya sitaare sharmaaye
hamaara bhi dil na machalne lage
jo haath me hamaare ye haath hai tumhaara
diye se nigaahon me jalne lage
Wo chaand muskaaya
aaaahahaha aaaahahaha
aahaha aahahaha
thandi thandi chanda ki kiran
jalti jalti saanson ki hawaa
kyaa naam hai is mausam ka sanam
pyaase hain magar phir bhi hai nasha
aane lagi angdaayi
ke jaise koi rut badalne lage
wo chaand muskaaya sitaare sharmaaye
hamaara bhi dil na machalne lage
wo chaand muskaaya
khoya hai kuchh aisa aaj samaa
bahke bahke uthte hai kadam
yoon pyaar bhare in raahon mein
chalte hi rahenge jhoom ke ham
ham to chale milke gale
khili chaandni rang uchhalne lage
wo chaand muskaaya sitaare sharmaaye
hamaara bhi dil na machalne lage
jo haath mein hamaare ye haath hai tumhaara
diye se nigaahon me jalne lage
wo chaand muskaaya

Its just pity that such a beautiful song could not find a place in the movie. One can only imagine Shekhar and Nutan singing the song.
Anyway the audio is clean and pleasing to listen to.
Thanks
