“Jeet” (1948) was a movie starring Suraiyya and Dev Anand. This movie, which had an idealistic storyline, which was in line with the enthusiasm that Indians felt about the prospects of their newly independent nation.
This movie had some very popular songs in it. I have posted a few of them already. Here is another song from this movie.
This song is sung by Suraiyya and it is picturised on Suraiyya herself. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Anil Biswas is the music director.
One can see that music in this song is almost non existent. And singing well without an accompanying orchestra is not easy. So Suraiyya deserves great credit for singing this song with such minimalistic, and yet, effective music.
