Bar dance was a very popular song and dance form in Bollywood movies in 1950s, which also took the form of cabarat dance in 1960s and 1970s.
One song that served as the template for bar dances in 1950s was “Howrah Bridge” (1958) song “Mera naa chin chin choo”. Many songs came up which were clearly influenced by this song.
Here is a me too song from “Dilli Ka Thug” (1958). This movie had music by Ravi and there were some superb songs sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle in this movie. Here is the bar dance song from this movie. Like “mera naam chin chin choo”, this song too is sung by Geeta Dutt.
But who is the dancer ? It is not Helen. It is someone not known to me. The credit for this movie shows female actors as Nutan, Smriti Biswas, Minu Mumtaz and Ratna. Now, the bar dancer is not Nutan, Smriti Biswas or Minu Mumtaz. For all I know, Ratna could well be someone playing Maa roles. What confusion. They should have just used Helen and it would have simplified my life. 😉
There were two lyricists in this movie, viz Majrooh Sultanpuri and S h Bihari. This song is written by S H Bihari.

in youtube Shri Chandrashekhar Gupta-ji says it is Smriti Biswas –Geeta Dutt singing for her– and Madan Puri and Iftekhar in the frame.

Just read the post for this song.
The dancer is Smriti Biswas.
The Ratna mentioned in the cast later became Ratna Bhushan. She played Kishore Kumar’s sister in this movie.
