Dara Singh, who was a legend among Indians of 1960s and 1970s became a fairly well known actor in Bollywood movies too. Most of his movies were C grade stuff, scoffed at by the “purists”, but his movies must have been profitable, considering that movies featuring Dara Singh continued to get produced. IN fact, Dara Singh himself produced many of his own movies.
“Naseehat” was one such movie which was produced by Dara Singh himself. It has been remarked by me several times that even C grade movies of those days used to have A grade music. For this movie, Dara Singh approached an A grade music director namely O P Nayyar. O P Nayyar cautioned Dara Singh that his charges were steep and he could well prove out to be a white elephant for his movie. Dara Singh told O P Nayyar that just as he was a heavyweight in wrestling rings, O P Nayyar was a heavyweight in music world, and Dara Singh was prepared to pay whatever O P Nayyar wanted.
In the past, I have posted a song here Dara Singh sings a love song seated on a piano in a gathering. Here Dara Singh sings a love song in the archtypically Bollywood way, viz in an garden, going around trees. His love interest in Rajshree, not the usual one, but another actress with the same name from South India.
Those were the days when O P Nayyar, a headstrong person, had got estranged with his preferred male singer, viz Rafi, and so he was using the voice of Mahendra Kapoor, even though he was no great fan of Mahendra Kapoor’s singing.This song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Aziz Kashmiri is the lyricist.
So here is this lesser known song from a lesser movie. The song itself is an A grade stuff.
