Mausam aayaa hai rangeen
Posted on: April 19, 2010
I have posted several songs from “Dholak” (1951) in the past. Here is another lovely song from this movie.
This song is a duet which is sung by Sulochana Kadam and Satish Batra. The song is picturised on Meena Shorey, Ajit and others as a stage song. Aziz Kashmiri is the lyricist and Shyam Sundar is the music director.
The song is nice, and so is the picturisation. Watching Meena Shorey is alway a pleasure, and watching such a young looking Ajit is a pleasant surprise too. And as for the song, it is a good song sung by two singers who are not all that well known today. Sulochana Kadam sang several songs those days, but it is the first song of Satish Batra that I have ever heard. The music of Shyam Sundar is wonderful in all the songs of this movie, including this one.

Lyrics
mausam aayaa hai rangeen
baji hai kahin sureeli been
aise mein haule haule haule haule aa
mausam aayaa hai rangeen
baji hai kahin sureeli been
aise men haule haule haule haule aa
mausam aayaa hai rangeen
baji hai kahin sureeli been
aise men haule haule haule haule aa
phool khile kaliyaan sharmaayin
rut masti ki aa gayi
rut aa gayi
rut aa gayi
neele-neele ambar par
bin poochhe badli chhaa gayi
ho chhaa gayi
ho chhaa gayi
khilaa hai khushiyon kaa baazaar
karenge nainon kaa vyopaar
aise mein haule haule haule haule aa
mausam aayaa hai rangeen
baji hai kahin sureeli been
aise mein haule haule haule haule aa
jhoom rahi hai daali-daali
jhoom rahaa man meraa re
man meraa re
man meraa re
do nainanon se ojhal
us kaa nainan beech baseraa re
baseraa re
baseraa re
karenge chaahat kaa ikraar
kisi ki jeet kisi ki haar
aise mein haule haule haule haule aa
mausam aayaa hai rangeen
baji hai kahin sureeli been
aise mein haule haule haule haule aa

Love the picturisation! And the actors are all good to look at.
You have of course heard Satish Batra before: without being aware of it!
He sings one of the major parts in that king of quawalis: “Na to carvaan ki talaash hai”. Sings for guy sitting to the left of the main quawal of the team opposing Shyama’s.
Lovely classical voice.

Hearing this for the first time. Absolutely lovely song.
It is stuck in my mind now. “Aise mein haule haule haule haule aa”. 🙂
I also like Meena Shorey a lot. And Ajit does look really good as a dapper, young gentleman.
Thanks for posting this fantastic song, Atul.
