I am aware of at least three movies called “Faraar”. These movies were released at a gap of 10 years beginning from 1955. In other words we had three movies by the same name, viz Faraar (1955), Faraar (1965) and Faraar (1975). In this blog, I have posted songs from all these movies.
Here is another song from “Faraar” (1955). This movie had Dev Anand and Geeta Bali in lead roles. This movie is apparently based in Goa, which was not yet a part of India. Goa was ruled by Portugal and it became a part of India only in 1962, some 15 years after Indian independence. In fact an alternative name of this movie was “Dev Anand in Goa”.
One can get a glimpse of Goan music and dance in this song. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt and it is picturised on Geeta Bali. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Anil Biswas composed the music.
The last para of this song consists of words in Goan/Konkani and I am not familiar with those words. So I request the readers familiar with these words to guide me, so that I may be able to include those words too in the lyrics.
This song is a nice song to listen to, and this song must have been one of the first Bollywood songs exposing the listeners to Goan music.

Geeta Dutt is just awesome.. for me she is like the female version of Rafi saab :).
