Dil mein samaake milne naa aaye

I was aware of three songs from “Kanhaiyya” (1959) and I have already posted those songs.
Just now I stumbled upon another song from this movie. And what a lovely song it is ! The song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nutan. This is a song where Nutan is missing Raj Kapoor, her beloved, who fails to turn up despite promising to come. Lata expresses the feelings of expectancy turning into disappointment and frustration so wonderfulyy well through her voice. The lyrics of Shailendra are simple and yet so coherent and expressive. The understated music of Shankar Jaikishan does its job competently.
This is a “lesser” known song from “Kanhaiyya” (1959) at least as far as I am concerned. But quality wise it is right up there with the very best. This song is indeed a gem.

Song-Dil mein samaake milne naa aaye (Kanhaiyya) (1959)Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
saawaan aawan kah gaye
kar gaye kaul anek
ginte ginte ghis gayin
(??) unki reet( ??)
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
tujhe taaron ne dekha
tujhe chandaa ne dekha
ek ham hi abhaage
tujhe hamne naa dekhaa
mere sapnon mein aaye
par aise naa aaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
tujhe ankhiyaan bulaayen
sooni ratiyaan bulaayen
aake mil jaa Kanhaiyya
haay ham kaise aayen
mere nainaa lage na jabse
nainaa lagaaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake
milne na aaye
kaise tum apne
kaise paraaye
ho
dil mein samaake

I saw this movie way back in 80’s (thanks to Door-darshan).
Nice songs. SJ, Raj kapoor & Shailendra combination.
I think Nutan is referring to Lord Krishna in the song (not Raj kappor). His name is also “Kanhaiya”, and he thinks that she is in love with him.

Yes, it is a beautiful song, and yes, I do remember it after all these years, but only after you jogged my memory. Thanks for this beauty, Atul!
