Koi lelo bhaiyya

Here is a song from a very old movie called “Meenakshi” (1942). I became aware of this movie because of a farmaish by Sid for this song. This movie had Ahindra Chowdhury, Sadhana Bose and K C Dey in lead roles.
This song is sung by K C Dey, so obviously this song must have been picturised on him, as was the practice those days. And song those days were mostly about the vocals, with hardly any orchestra to accompany. So singers did not have the luxury of orchestra to cover up for them.
That way, K C Dey’s vocal chords carry this song on their own. What a strong and powerful voice he had.
This song is written by Pt Bhushan and Pankaj Mullick composed the music.
Here is this rare song from “Meenakshi” (1942) which I find a delightful song to listen to. I have not been able to get the last stanza fully correct to my satisfaction. Readers with keener ears are requested to point out the errors in the lyrics that I have written down.
