Mere dil pe lagaake darling apne naam ki chit

Posted on: August 20, 2010

Johny Walker, who mostly played a comedian in Hindi movie had become so popular that he began to command one song per movie which was typically sung by Rafi. This song was often a major highlight of the movie.

There have been dozens of wonderful Rafi-Johny Walker songs. Johny walker not only got a song in these movies, he often also got a pretty lady to romance in these movies. And that meant scope for a duet too.

Here is a duet from “Basant” (1960). It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. I have no idea who the lady is in the picturisation. I request my knowledgeable readers to identify her for us ignorants.
PS-She is Kammo. I thank Mr Vanraj for this information.

Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and O P Nayyar composed the music.

Thanks for this information, Mr Vanraj. I am very weak in identifying actresses of 1950s and 196s.

the actress is Shyama and not Kammo. Shyama was well known actress who stared in Baji, Tarana, Barsatki Rat, Milan etc.
