Doobte huye dil ko tinke ka sahaaraa bhi nahin

Posted on: September 30, 2010

Here is a song which is from 1968 when I was very much around as a keen listen of Hindi movie songs. But I never got to listen to this song. I stumbled upon this song for the first time only a few hours ago.

This song is from an obscure movie called “Kahin Aur Chal” (1968) which starred Dwv Anand. The movie flopped and as a result the songs of this movie failed to get registered with the ears of the listeners. In any case, 1968 was the titanium year as far as Hindi movie songs are concerned and many great songs, like the one under discussion here, failed to get a toehold in an overcrowded scenario where countless great songs were jostling for space.

This song is sung by Rafi. Ony audio of this song is available but one can safely assume that this song was picturised on Dev Anand. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and music was composed by Shankar Jaikishan. Yes, even the highly successful team of Rafi, Hasrat Jaipuri and Shankar Jaikishan could not save this movie from fdailure nor could ensure the success of the sound track of this movie.

But, listening to this song, 42 years after the fact, I can say that this song is an outstanding song on its own and it deserves to be better known among music lovers instead of lying forgotten.

So here is this rare and forgotten gem from this rare and forgotten movie called “Kahin Aur Chal ” (1968).

song-Doobte huye dil ko tinke ka sahaaraa bhi nahin (Kahin Aur Chal) (1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

doobte huye dil ko
tinke kaa sahaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko
tinke kaa sahaaraa bhi nahin
kin ishaaron par jiyun
koi ishaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko
tinke kaa sahaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko

meraa jeewan kyaa jeewan
ik laash hai chalti-phirti
meraa jeewan kyaa jeewan
ik laash hai chalti-phirti
ik laash hai chalti-phirti
dard mujhe jo milaa
us dard kaa chaaraa bhi nahin
kin ishaaron par jiyun
koi ishaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko

maut ne mujhko thukraayaa
lagaayaa bhi naa gale se mujhe
maut ne mujhko thukraayaa
lagaayaa bhi naa gale se mujhe
lagaayaa bhi naa gale se mujhe
koi bataa de jaaun kahaan
koi hamaaraa bhi nahin
kin ishaaron par jiyun
koi ishaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko
tinke kaa sahaaraa bhi nahin
doobte huye dil ko

High on the success of Jewel Thief in 1967 Dev Anand & Vijay Anand got togther again to work for their friend cameraman Jal Mistry’s debut venture Kahin Aur Chal.Tolaram Jalan was the financer for cash-starved Jal Mistry.Tolaram had all the rights of the film as per the contact sighned between them.
Everyone was working to make a good film except Tolaram who wanted to make a flop film to adjust his Income Tax dues. After aggrevating all artists he somehow managed it to complete the film with some duplicate stars and got dubbed it by some dubbing artists and released it for only one matinee show. After that the film was withdrawn from the market. And that was the end of Kahin Aur Chal.
