Bheegi bheegi fazaa

Posted on: September 30, 2010

This song starts with a car moving in a road, with four people sitting in it. Good, so it is a car song, I think.

But for the rest of the song, the car remains parked. The four of them have come for a picnic. We see Shashikala, holding a picnic basket in one hand, singing this song, to no one is particular. Others have assembled there for picnic, but she seems to have gone there to sing this song. 😀 I see that her colleagues include Dharmendra, but he keeps a low profile throughout this song.

This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Shashikala, with other three (including Dharmendra) as silent onlookers. This song is from “Anupama” (1966). Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist and music is composed by Hemant Kumar.

song-Bheegi bheegi fazaa (Anupama) (1966) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Kaifi Azmi, MD-Hemant Kumar

Lyrics

bheegi bheegi fazaa
san san san ke jiyaa
zulfen udaati hai,
khushboo churaati hai
paagal chanchal mast hawaa
bheegi bheegi fazaa
san san san ke jiyaa aa aa

koyal ban mein bole
nas-nas mein ras ghole
koi natkhat jaise ghoonghat
chori chori khole
koi aayaa nahin,
bhaayaa nahin
kiskaa saayaa saath chalaa
bheegi bheegi fazaa
san san san ke jiyaa
zulfen udaati hai,
khushboo churaati hai
paagal chanchal mast hawaa
bheegi bheegi fazaa
san san san ke jiyaa aa aa

pal pal jhonkaa aaye
aanchal sarkaa jaaye
pal pal jhonkaa aaye
aanchal sarkaa jaaye
tan man meraa jeewan meraa
dheere dheere gaaye
dekho dekho hansi,
dil ki kali
dil mein aisaa dard uthaa
bheegi bheegi fazaa
san san san ke jiyaa aa aa

This song reminds me, another song from the same film picturised again on (“CHULBULI”)Shashikala , in a party, sung by asha bhosle(who expressed the joy and the sadness, side by side):”KYON MUJHE ITNI KHUSHI DE DI, KE GHABARAATA HAI DIL, KAHIN MACHAL NA JAAOON, KAHIN FISAL NA JAAOON:that`s a great song. Both asha bhosle`s song from this give tough competetion to lata`s 2 gems and hemanth kumar`s song from “ANUPAMA”
(i)DHEERE DHEERE MACHAL, AI DIL-E-BEKARAAR, KOI AATA HAI ii)KUCHCH DIL NE KAHA,KUCHCH BHI NAHIN, AISI BHI BAATEIN HOTI HAIN
iii)YA DIL KI SUNO DUNIYA WALON, YA MUJHKO YUN HI CHCHUP REHNE DO.

I think hemanth kumar did not used asha bhosle`s voice more often, but when he used, we can HEAR the results.(OOPS,sorry he used asha`s voice to the fullest extent, in “SAAHIB BIWI AUR GULAAM(1962)”-
i)”saaqiya aaj mujhe neend nahin aayegi, suna hai, teri mehfil mein ras jagaa hai” picturised on minoo mumtaaz)(mujra song with full of celebration )
ii)”banwra bada naadan hai, kaliyan pe muskaan hai”(waheeda rehmaan:teasing song
iii)”mere baat rahi, mere man mein ,kuchch keh na saki uljhan mein”:sad, melancholic song:waheeda
iii)”meri jaan, meri achchi nahin itna situm”(mujra song picturised on a dancer and rehmaan)

2)again in 1954 “JAGRITHI”i)chalo chale maa…sapnon ke gaaon mein(picturised on master ratan kumar,pranothi ghosh)
ii)de di hamein azaadi, bina khadg, bina dhaal, sabarmathi ke sant, tune kar diya kamaal, raghupathi raaghava rajaram
(ratan kumar)

3)1963:BIN BAADAL BARSAAT:remember the asha bhosle`s dance song(picturised beautifully on NISHI KOHLI):BIN BAADAL BARSAAT NA HOGI, O DEEWAANON, O NADAANON

regards

The lyrics of the third stanza of the song (I couldn’t find the picturization, but it is there in Ashaji’s song):
Hastein hain deewane, bante hain afsaane
Dil ki baatein, dil ki ghaatein, kaise koi jaane
Mujhe roko nahin, toko nahin, maine rastaa dhoondh liya
bheegi bheegi fazaa…
