Dil mera todaa
Posted on: November 18, 2010
There have been several movies called “Majboor”. I have discussed songs of movies of this name that were released in 1964 and 1974. The oldest “Majboor” was released in 1948 itself, though.
This movie is today known for throwing up the first hit song in Lata’s career. Lata, who had made her debut as a playback singer in 1946 was a struggler till 1948. She caught the eye of Ghular Haider who mentored her and predicted big future for her.
Ghulam Haider gave Lata her first big break in this movie “Majboor” (1948). To this movie goes the credit of throwing up the first hit Lata song. The song is “dil mera toda ho mujhe kahin ka na chhoda”.
Here is this song from “Majboor” (1946). This song is written by Nazim Panipati and its music is composed by Ghulam Haider. This song was picturised on Munawwar Sultana.
So, here is this song of historical importance, which has the distinction of being the very first hit song in Lata’s career.
Song-Dil mera todaa (Majboor) (1948) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Nazim Panipati, MD-Ghulam Haider
Lyrics
dil meraa todaa
ho mujhe kahin kaa na chhodaa
tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
dil meraa todaa
ho mujhe kahin kaa na chhodaa
tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
jali jali jaaun re
kahaan chali jaaun re
haay mujhe maar daalaa
birhaa ke maar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
dil meraa todaa
ho mujhe kahin kaa na chhodaa
tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
more saajnaa
more saajnaa
ho more baalmaa
more saajnaa
ho more baalmaa
din beete jaise taise
ratiyaan bitaaun kaise
kiyaa kyaa qasoor haay
kiyaa kyaa qasoor
lage badle utaarne
haay tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
dil meraa todaa
ho mujhe kahin kaa na chhodaa
tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
ho moraa manwaa dole
ghadi ghadi
ghadi ghadi
haay kis uljhan mein ye jaan padi
haay kis uljhan mein ye jaan padi
kar diyaa rogi haay
kar diyaa rogi
tere jhoothhe iqraar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
dil meraa todaa
ho mujhe kahin kaa na chhodaa
tere pyaar ne
haay tere pyaar ne
pyaar ne
